Job Title : System Administrator
Job Summary
The Senior IT Engineer / Administrator will be responsible for implementing, securing, and managing the complete IT infrastructure of the educational campus to ensure reliable, scalable, and secure technology operations. This role oversees data centers, servers, networks, security systems, end-user computing, and enterprise applications, ensuring 24x7 availability of IT systems supporting academic, administrative, and residential operations across the campus.
Key Responsibilities
1. Infrastructure Management
- Oversee implementation, operation, and maintenance of:
- Data centers, servers, desktops, storage, and virtualization platforms
- Manage campus-wide IT infrastructure including:
- Wired and wireless networks
- Telephony systems
- Operating systems and enterprise software
- CCTV surveillance and access control systems
- Ensure high availability, scalability, performance, and security of all IT systems across the campus
2. Operations Management
- Lead IT service desk and technical support teams to ensure timely resolution of incidents and service requests
- Monitor system performance, conduct capacity planning, and implement performance optimization
- Define, track, and report IT operational KPIs such as:
- System uptime
- Response time
- Ticket resolution and SLA compliance
- Ensure adherence to IT security, data protection, and privacy standards
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service level agreements (SLAs)
3. Security & Compliance
- Implement and manage cybersecurity controls including:
- Endpoint security solutions
- Firewalls, IDS/IPS
- Data backup, recovery, and protection mechanisms
- Ensure compliance with institutional IT policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices
4. Team & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate closely with IT operations staff including network engineers, system administrators, and support engineers
- Coordinate with campus leadership, faculty, and administrative departments to ensure seamless IT services
- Liaise with external vendors and service providers for smooth and uninterrupted IT operations
Qualifications
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field (mandatory)
- Master’s Degree (MBA / M.Tech) – preferred
Professional Certifications (Preferred / Added Advantage)
- ITIL
- CCNA / CCNP
- MCSE
- VMware or equivalent infrastructure certifications
Professional Experience
- Minimum 6–7 years of overall IT experience, including at least 5 years of hands-on experience in IT Infrastructure and Operations Management.
- Proven experience managing:
- Mission-critical IT systems
- Data centers
- Campus-wide IT infrastructure
- Strong hands-on expertise in:
- Operating systems
- Networking
- Servers and virtualization
- Storage technologies
- Cybersecurity solutions
