Teller County is looking for an HR Specialist – Operations to help keep our Human Resources department running smoothly day to day. This role is perfect for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, discreet, and genuinely enjoys helping others — whether you already have HR experience or are ready to grow into it with the right support and training.

What You’ll Do (a.k.a. how you’ll spend your days):


You’ll be a key part of our HR team, supporting employees and departments across the County. Your work will matter — every single day.


Some of your core responsibilities include:

  • Supporting day-to-day HR operations and partnering closely with the HR Director and other HR staff 
  • Administering FMLA and Workers’ Compensation
  • Coordinating employee offboarding, including exit interviews and separation paperwork 
  • Assisting with onboarding and new hire orientation 
  • Supporting benefits administration with orientations, invoices, and routine questions 
  • Tracking annual performance evaluations 
  • Processing employment verifications and assisting with CORA requests 
  • Maintaining confidential personnel files and HR records 
  • Monitoring the HR inbox and helping employees get timely answers 
  • Conducting internal file audits to ensure compliance 
  • Keeping required labor law posters up to date 
  • Providing general administrative and reporting support to the HR team 
  • Jumping in to support other HR team members as needed

What We’re Looking For:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience in a Human Resources role performing similar duties and responsibilities is preferred. (Comparable education, training, or experience may be substituted — we’re open to strong transferable skills.) 
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office and learning HR systems  
  • Ability to maintain discretion and handle sensitive information  

Work Environment and Schedule:

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.  This role is fully on-site and plays an important in-person support function for County employees. Remote or hybrid work is not available. The position is office-based, five days per week, on a set schedule, with occasional local travel.   
  • Light physical activity (lifting up to 25 lbs., extended periods of sitting, walking, occasional local travel, etc.)

Salary & Benefits: 


Salary range: $28.67 - $30.10 / hour
