About The Role
The video editor will make outstanding videos for the Telegraph app, website and social media platforms. These will include short-form videos, news features and mini-documentaries.
Key Responsibilities
- A talented editor, with the ability to make Telegraph video content stand out in a crowded marketplace.
- To capably edit different styles of video content, from longer-form YouTube content to short TikTok videos.
- To deliver the best visual treatment on interviews, features and mini-documentaries.
- To be adaptable to a fast-moving news environment where specifications and deadlines may change at short notice.
- To create content that meets the needs of different audiences on various platforms.
- To balance several projects simultaneously based on the priorities of the team.
- Competent operation of our own in-house studio facilities – camera operation and good lighting/vision and audio mixing.
- To occasionally self-shoot high-quality video on location in the UK or internationally.
- To work closely with producers, editors and reporters to shape visual storytelling from planning through to delivery.
Key Skills
- Outstanding editing skills on Adobe Premiere Pro, including audio design and colour grading.
- Excellent visual storytelling instincts, including composition, lighting, sound and pacing.
- Strong editorial judgement and understanding of news and current affairs.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure, meet tight deadlines and adapt quickly to changing briefs.
Desirable skills
- Experience using Adobe After Effects.
- Experience editing long-form, investigative or documentary content.
- Experience working in a newsroom or with editorial teams on news or current affairs output.
