The Solution Architect - Alberta, reporting to the Web Development Manager - Alberta and based in Sherwood Park, acts as a strategic bridge between business needs and technology. The role goes beyond traditional business analysis or product ownership: it is responsible for designing scalable, secure, enterprise-level solution blueprints, modernizing legacy systems, and driving technology improvements across the organization. The Solution Architect - Alberta continually identifies opportunities for innovation and ensures the Enterprise remains aligned with modern technologies.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Design, document, and deliver complex, secure, and regulated enterprise solutions that align with business and technology strategies.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of government acts and regulations within the automobile insurance industry to develop compliant, configurable solutions.
  • Lead cloud migration and modernization initiatives, including lift-and-shift, re-platform, and refactoring from on-premises to cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Architect highly resilient, scalable, and fault-tolerant systems using Disaster Recovery (DR) and High Availability (HA) best practices, targeting availability levels up to 99.999%.
  • Apply enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF 10, Zachman Framework) to define solution architectures, governance standards, and decision-making models.
  • Provide architectural leadership across presentation, integration, and backend layers, ensuring solutions are reusable, extensible, configurable, and integration ready.
  • Define and maintain architectural roadmaps that guide the transition from legacy systems to modern, future-state platforms.
  • Leverage emerging technologies, including Agentic AI and Generative AI, to influence SDLC frameworks, and improve delivery speed, quality, and maintainability
  • Ensure solutions are operationally efficient, maintainable, secure, and aligned with quality and performance standards.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to ensure successful solution delivery.
  • Provide occasional after-hours support to maintain business continuity during critical releases, incidents, or system updates.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience designing and delivering complex, configurable, enterprise-grade solutions is required.
  • Hands-on experience applying enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF 10 or the Zachman.
  • Proven experience migrating legacy systems to cloud and hybrid infrastructures.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, risk management, and controls within regulated industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and adopt emerging technologies and act as a change driver.
  • Experience designing modular, reusable systems using microservices architecture and decomposing monolithic applications.
  • Knowledge of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) principles and usability best practices is considered an asset.
  • Prior experience in the insurance industry, particularly auto insurance or dealership solutions, is considered an asset.
  • Ability to coach at all levels of SDLC is required.
  • Fluent in English with proven competencies in verbal and written communication, is required.
  • Successful completion of a credit check, criminal background check, education verification, and employment reference checks is required prior to employment.
