About this role
We’re looking for a DevOps Engineer to join us at Telia.
I’m Jussi Jääskeläinen, Head of Product & Solution Integration, and I’m searching for someone ready to grow with us. We’re a team focused on evolving Service Hub, which is our in-house product integration and feature add-on platform.
What you’ll do:
You’ll work as DevOps Engineer in the system team (Valhalla). Valhalla team is responsible for the platforms, operations and support for Service Hub. We work in distributed, cross-border teams and are in close cooperation with our Swedish partner.
This role is a mix between hands-on technical work, operational responsibilities (including handling incidents and problem issue solving) and acting as a Scrum Master for the Valhalla team. You will be responsible for:
From DevOps Engineering (hands-on) side:
Contributing to design, coding, reviews, troubleshooting.
Building and improving CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure practices.
Supporting and evolving platform reliability, scalability, and observability.
Participating in architecture and technical decision-making.
From Scrum Master / Delivery support side:
Facilitating sprint ceremonies and helping the team to remove impediments and improve ways of working.
Supporting PI planning and sprint iterations in a SAFe-aligned environment.
Promoting transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement as an agile representative.
From Operations / Incident response side:
Participating in operational work for Service Hub, including rotating ticket handling and 24/7 on-call duties.
Taking part in incident task forces and cross-team troubleshooting efforts.
Helping coordinate and drive root cause analysis and follow-up actions.
As this position you’ll interact continuously with local stakeholders, fluent Finnish language is a mandatory requirement without exceptions.
What will help you thrive in this role:
You have a mix of experience and interest across engineering, facilitation, and operations. You don’t need to be a deep expert in all areas - what matters is that you can contribute in each and want to develop further.
This role could be a good fit for a person with a collaborative mindset that supports psychological safety, openness, and learning. You also have:
Hands-on experience in DevOps / SRE type of work.
Experience related with Scrum Master responsibilities (facilitating ceremonies, improving team flow).
Operational experience: support, incidents, troubleshooting, or on-call environments.
Understanding of cloud-native architectures, DevOps, and reliability principles.
Ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Our technical stack and engineering environment:
Our Service Hub platform is Java-centric, cloud-native, and built for scalability, reliability, and integration-heavy workloads.
Core technologies (majority of application development): Java (~80%), Spring Boot, Quarkus, WildFly, Vert.x.
Additional backend & scripting languages: Kotlin, Python (primarily for scripting and automation), Bash, SQL.
Frontend technologies: TypeScript, Angular.
Cloud & platform technologies: Kubernetes, Helm, public and sovereign cloud platforms (AWS, UpCloud, Welkin).
Engineering practices and tooling: GitHub & Jira, DevSecOps, IaC, CI/CD pipelines, observability and monitoring, automated testing, including security and penetration testing.
