ManagerJob Description & Summary
Kia ora,
Lead M&A transactions, take ownership of deal execution and modelling, and develop your career as a trusted delivery lead within a high-performing Corporate Finance team.
At PwC, our purpose is clear: to build trust in society and solve important problems. This is a place to deepen your transaction experience, lead teams and build toward senior leadership in M&A.
Ngā kōrero mō tēnei tūranga / About the role
PwC New Zealand is the leading M&A advisor in the market and the only Big 4 firm with a fully integrated deals capability across M&A, infrastructure, debt advisory, property and transaction services, advising on many of New Zealand’s most significant and complex transactions.
As a Manager / Associate Director in PwC’s Corporate Finance team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering M&A and valuation engagements, working closely with Partners and Directors to provide high-quality, commercially grounded advice to clients.
You will take responsibility for leading core workstreams across buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions, business valuations and strategic advisory engagements. The role combines hands-on technical delivery with responsibility for engagement management, client interaction and coaching junior team members. You will be trusted to manage multiple engagements in parallel across the full transaction lifecycle — from transaction strategy and valuation through to execution and completion — ensuring high-quality outcomes are delivered on time and to a consistently high standard.
The role will be appointed at Manager or Associate Director level depending on experience, with scope and responsibility scaled accordingly. Associate Directors will take greater ownership of client relationships and engagement leadership, while Managers will focus more heavily on delivery and team leadership.
Ngā pūkenga ka kawea mai e koe / Skills and experience
You will bring strong transaction experience, sound commercial judgement and the ability to lead teams and engagements in a fast-paced advisory environment.
You will have:
A tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline
Significant experience in corporate finance, M&A, transaction advisory or investment banking, preferably within a Big 4 firm or similar advisory environment
Demonstrated experience leading M&A transactions and valuation engagements, including buy-side and sell-side mandates
Strong technical capability in financial modelling, valuation methodologies (DCF, trading and transaction comparables) and investment analysis
Experience preparing and reviewing high-quality client deliverables, including information memoranda, valuation reports and board-level materials
Proven ability to manage engagement delivery, prioritise workloads and maintain quality under time pressure
Strong client-facing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and communicate complex issues clearly
Experience coaching and developing junior team members
A collaborative leadership style and strong commercial acumen
