As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials, you’ll dive deep into ground-breaking technologies—like machine learning and AI—to craft novel software solutions that solve our customers’ high-value problems. Our Software Engineers are responsible for designing, prototyping, developing, and debugging software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices to ensure quality and functionality. You'll develop software documentation and test procedures, troubleshoot software problems, and communicate with internal customers to understand project requirements. Position Overview
We are looking for a Software DevOps & Systems Engineer who will support both legacy and next‑generation software platforms. This role spans Linux/Windows system engineering, DevOps/CI‑CD automation, RTOS environment support, and infrastructure readiness for complex software products built with C++, Python, and embedded technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & System Engineering
- Build, configure, and maintain Linux-based systems (RHEL 9, CentOS 7.x), Windows platforms, and real-time OS environments (OS‑9).
- Manage data center infrastructure, including server racks, and environment readiness.
- Create and maintain needed OS images.
- Maintain software licensing for internal and external customers.
- Support development, integration, testing, and release cycles.
- Coordinate effectively with Development, GIS, and Infrastructure teams to align system readiness with software delivery timelines.
- Background knowledge in C/C++ environment including build tools which are to be installed and running on those computer systems.
- Create technical documentation.
DevOps & DevSecOps
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps).
- Support build workflows across C++, Python, and embedded systems.
- Manage Docker and Kubernetes environments.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting.
Required Qualifications
- BTech / MTech in Computer Science, Electronics, or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in Linux administration, DevOps pipelines, C++/Python build workflows, infrastructure engineering.
- Understanding of SDLC.
- Strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Qt, embedded Linux, multi-core systems.
- Experience working with real-time embedded Linux operating systems.
- Experience developing and supporting applications on both Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Global engineering experience.
