Job Description

Hearing Examiner’s primary responsibilities will be reviewing homeowner records and conducting hearings upon appeal by homeowner. 

Key Responsibilities:

Review files of homeowners prior to hearings. 

Ensure that homeowners have an understanding of the procedures and their rights during the hearings. 

Conduct hearings and ensure that adequate records of proceedings are created. 

Review the record of hearings including analysis of homeowner’s credit, income, employment history, ownership issues affecting the home and evaluate circumstances surrounding the mortgage delinquency. 

Secure necessary investigative information, confirmations from lenders, credit reports, property reports or any other relevant homeowner information that may need clarification and review documents when necessary for assistance in completing homeowner’s record. 

Organize hearing records and write decisions in a timely manner. 

Discuss individual appeals with legal staff to secure concurring approval for reversals. 

Assist legal staff as necessary in the preparation of Commonwealth Court appeals filed by homeowners who are unsuccessful in their administrative appeal. 

Maintain statistical record of hearings and file monthly reports with senior management. 

Respond to questions and inquiries about status of homeowner appeals. 

Monitor bankruptcy notices and distribute updates to appropriate staff. 

Work with attorneys regarding bankruptcy proceedings.
