Role Overview:
The Data Architect will design, implement, and manage scalable, reliable, and secure data architectures that power analytics, integrations, and real-time processing across the organization. As part of the Data Platform team, this role collaborates closely with Solution Architects, Data Engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure that data models and systems are aligned with business needs and enterprise architecture standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate business and technical requirements into well-defined data models and architecture specifications.
- Design and document logical and physical data models, data flow diagrams, and integration patterns.
- Align data architecture with application design and system interaction patterns in collaboration with Solution Architects.
- Establish and maintain best practices and design standards for relational, NoSQL, and streaming data solutions.
- Act as a hands-on architecture lead during discovery, planning, and delivery phases of data projects.
- Guide data engineers in implementing solutions consistent with architecture principles and project requirements.
- Conduct design and code reviews to ensure solution quality, scalability, and compliance.
- Drive platform evolution by defining and enforcing reusable, modular, and scalable architecture practices.
- Define and enforce best practices for data modeling, data security, and performance tuning.
- Maintain consistency in metadata, naming conventions, and data access standards across environments.
- Support data privacy, classification, and auditability requirements across integrated systems.
- Partner with Product Managers, Engineering Leads, DevOps, and Analytics teams to deliver end-to-end data solutions.
- Collaborate with Solution Architects to ensure cohesive design and delivery across application and data domains.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on data structures, semantics, and lifecycle management cross key business areas.
- 7+ years in data engineering or data architecture roles, with at least 3 years in an architecture-focused position.
- Proven expertise in GCP and/or Azure, with deep understanding of native data services.
- Strong understanding of relational, NoSQL, and object storage paradigms.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL; proficiency in Python preferred.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines for data engineering.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead through influence.
- Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
