Position Description
Our Story
At The a2 Milk Company, we’re doing dairy differently.
Founded on science and driven by a pioneering spirit, we’re proud to be a global ASX and NZX-listed organisation with a strong footprint across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and beyond. Our purpose is simple but powerful to create an A1-free world where dairy nourishes all people and the planet.
As we continue to grow globally, we’re looking for a junior to intermediate Group Financial Accountant who is keen to build a strong technical foundation, gain exposure to group reporting, and grow their career within a supportive, high-performing finance team.
The Opportunity
This role is ideal for an early-career accountant who has recently completed their CA or CPA qualification or is close to doing so and looking to step into a global finance environment where learning, development and progression are genuinely supported.
Reporting to the Group Financial Reporting Manager, you’ll play a key role in end-of-month processing, group reporting and analysis, while gaining hands-on exposure to half yearly external reporting, consolidation, treasury, fixed assets, leases and foreign currency accounting across an international business. You’ll be supported by an experienced finance team and exposed to projects that will stretch your skills and accelerate your development. This is a varied role in a small and engaged team that offers a rewarding finance career in a growing global FMCG company
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be involved in:
- Supporting end-of-month close activities, including journals, reconciliations and reporting
- Liaising with the various regional and function finance teams and building strong relationships
- Maintaining group fixed assets, intangibles and lease accounting
- Assisting with group consolidations, intercompany eliminations and reconciliations
- Supporting foreign currency revaluations and FX reporting
- Contributing to half-year and year-end reporting processes
- Assisting with audit and treasury activities
- Getting involved in process improvement initiatives to streamline finance operations
This role provides excellent exposure across group finance and will evolve as your capability grows.
About You
You’re curious, detail-oriented and motivated to learn. You enjoy working in a collaborative team and want to understand the “why” behind the numbers.
You’ll likely bring:
- A degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
- Qualified or currently working towards the final stages of CA or CPA
- 1–3 years’ experience in a finance or accounting role (industry or professional services)
- A solid understanding of IFRS (NZX/ASX listed exposure a plus)
- Strong Excel skills and an interest in ERP systems (Oracle exposure advantageous)
- A proactive mindset and willingness to ask questions and take ownership as you grow
- Enjoy a fast-paced environment, where the work at times is a bit ambiguous and requires a problem-solving approach.
If you’re looking for a role where you can build deep technical capability, gain global exposure and grow your accounting career, we’d love to hear from you.
