Your role – safeguarding accountability in Ukraine

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring sound, transparent and compliant financial management of IM’s operations and partnerships in Ukraine. You will work in a complex and rapidly changing context, where financial decisions require both precision and judgement.

You will:

✔ Promote sound, efficient and accountable financial management and control
✔ Assist in accounting, payments, reconciliations and statutory reporting to relevant authorities
✔ Assess partners’ financial capacity and contribute to risk-aware partnership decisions

✔ Contribute to strengthening partners’ financial management and control capacity through guidance, coaching and practical support

✔ Coordinate and follow up on internal and external audits in line with IM audit instructions and donor requirements, including preparation, liaison with auditors and follow-up on audit findings

✔ Ensure continuous financial monitoring of partner organisations in accordance with IM procedures, including review of financial reports, spot-checks and on-site verifications when required

✔ Contribute to systematic financial risk assessments for IM operations and partner organisations, and ensure timely follow-up on agreed risk mitigation measures

✔ Work in IM’s financial management systems, ensuring accurate forecasting, consolidation and timely financial reporting in line with IM and donor requirements
✔ Stay updated on relevant tax laws, legal provisions and anti-corruption requirements
✔ Systematically analyse whether strategic objectives are met in a cost-effective way and contribute to prioritisation
✔ Actively participate in internal IM processes, global collaboration and continuous improvement

Does this sound like you?

You are someone who takes responsibility, works with integrity and is comfortable navigating complexity.

You bring:

  • Academic education in finance, accounting or a related field – or equivalent professional experience

  • Solid hands-on experience with accounting, payroll, taxes and statutory reporting

  • Experience working with financial management in non-profit or civil society organisations

  • Experience working with donor requirements and financial follow-up

  • Professional proficiency in Ukrainian and English, both written and spoken

Important prerequisites for this role

To succeed in this role, the following conditions need to be in place:

  • You live in western Ukraine and are able to work primarily from within the country

Type of contract: Two-year contract with eventual extension

Salary range: 3.800-4.400€ per month
