Join Us as a Backend Engineer – Shape the Future of Safety Tech
About Consilium Safety Group
At Consilium Safety Group, we engineer technology that saves lives. As a global leader in fire and gas detection systems, we protect people and critical infrastructure across marine, energy, rail, and commercial industries.
Our development organization is structured around product-oriented teams across locations. You will join a team whose primary product is a Safety Management System—a central software platform used to monitor, manage, and support decision-making in safety-critical environments.
The team has a clear ambition: to build the world’s best Safety Management System—software that users trust, rely on, and prefer. When operators have worked with a Consilium system, our goal is that they would not want to work with anything else. That ambition places high demands on reliability, clarity, and long-term quality in everything we build.
Your Role: Backend Engineer
You will join a team responsible for the core backend of a Safety Management System used in real-world, safety-critical environments.
This role is about building systems that people rely on when it matters most. You will work on backend services where correctness, clarity, and long-term quality are non-negotiable. The work requires sound judgement, attention to detail, and a willingness to take ownership of complex problems from design through production.
You won’t just implement requirements—you will help shape how the system behaves, evolves, and holds up over time.
What You’ll Do
Build backend services that form the backbone of the Safety Management System.
Take responsibility for the design, implementation, and reliability of the components you work on.
Make thoughtful technical decisions, balancing simplicity, performance, and maintainability.
Work with distributed systems and service-to-service communication in a safety-critical context.
Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, system engineers, and product stakeholders to support a system that is both powerful and usable.
Continuously improve code quality, testing strategies, and development workflows.
What You Bring
Proven experience building backend systems that are used and maintained in production.
Strong professional experience with C# / .NET, with an emphasis on readable, maintainable, and well-structured code.
Solid understanding of object-oriented design, system boundaries, and architectural principles.
Experience designing and working with APIs and service-to-service communication (e.g. gRPC, REST).
Experience working with automated testing, version control, and CI/CD as integral parts of development.
An engineering mindset that values correctness, clarity, and long-term system quality over short-term solutions.
Nice to have
Experience with distributed systems, performance, or high-availability environments.
Experience working in industrial, regulated, or safety-critical domains.
Experience contributing across the stack or collaborating closely in a fullstack context.
Current Tech Stack
Backend: C# / .NET, ASP.NET
Communication: gRPC, OPC-UA
Practices: CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, modern DevOps workflows
Surrounding tech: TypeScript, WPF (in adjacent parts of the system)
