The Role
This is a newly created role, established in response to the continued growth of the Legal team. The position provides expert employment and industrial relations advice across the Torrens Global Education group in Australia and New Zealand.
It is a hands-on, trusted adviser role, partnering closely with senior leaders, People & Culture and the broader business. Based within the Office of General Counsel and reporting to the Legal Affairs Director (ANZ), you will play a key role in supporting a dynamic, fast-moving university environment.

Key Responsibilities
Lead complex employment and industrial relations and Work health and safety matters
Handle employment disputes, litigation and regulatory matters
Draft and advise on employment policies and governance
Partner with senior leaders as a trusted legal adviser
About You
Law degree with NSW practising certificate (or eligibility)
10+ years post-admission experience in employment & IR law
Experience working in the Higher Education environment or private practice is preferred
Strong experience in disputes, litigation and advisory work
Confident operating autonomously in complex environments
Ability to operate autonomously within a small team, prioritising complex matters and managing competing stakeholder expectations. Proven capability to deliver sound, strategic advice in tight timeframes, supported by strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and clear written and verbal communication. Confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels and acting as a positive ambassador for the Legal team.
