We’re hiring for Data Scientist Intern

As a Data Scientist Intern, you will be responsible for supporting Corteva’s Research & Development, and Digital Agriculture initiatives by applying analytical, statistical techniques to large agricultural datasets. The intern contributes to data‑driven solutions that enhance breeding, product development, and field research operations. This role works under the direction of a data scientist and collaborates with scientists, senior research associates, and other cross‑functional partners.
You Will Be Part of Growing Team
Research and Development
Your Challenge:
· Perform data cleaning, preparation, transformation, and exploratory analytics using Corteva datasets (e.g., field trials, geospatial, genomic, environmental).
· Produce reports from Corteva apps and databases for the breeding team and partners.
· Support data pipeline tasks in collaboration with data scientists, contributing to jobs creation, data validation, and data quality checks.
· Create visualizations and analytic summaries to communicate insights to R&D teams.
· Collaborate with scientists, research associates, and field teams to ensure data quality and continuity.
· Adhere to Corteva’s confidentiality, data governance, and information security standards while working with proprietary research information.
Key Stakeholders and Interactions:
Research Scientists, Senior Research Associates, and other cross‑functional partners
Location:
Delmas, Mpumalanga.
To Grow What Matters, You Will Need
Qualifications BSc or MSc in Agriculture (Plant Breeding), Bioinformatics, Genetics, Statistics, or Scientific related field
Foundational skills in data analysis using tools such as R, Python or similar environments
Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective teamwork within a diverse and multicultural research environment.
Proficiency in Office software such as spreadsheets, mail, calendar, and presentation software.
Excellent interpersonal/communication skills are required for fostering teamwork, enhancing a good working environment, and effectively developing strong working relationships with a diverse group of people
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work after hours in season and work outside in all kinds of weather
