Embla Medical (Össur) is looking for a Solution Architect for Mobile Applications to join our team.
The Solution Architect for Mobile Applications is responsible for designing and guiding the technical implementation of mobile apps across iOS and Android. The role ensures that mobile solutions are reliable, secure, compliant with regulatory requirements, and aligned with overall technology standards.
Key responsibilities
Design the overall technical structure for mobile applications (iOS and Android).
Decide on appropriate technologies and frameworks, including native and cross-platform approaches based on business requirements, team capabilities, and long-term maintenance considerations.
Ensure mobile apps integrate properly with backend systems, APIs, and cloud-based services.
Review technical designs and support development teams with guidance and problem-solving.
Define and enforce standards for performance, security, data privacy, and maintainability.
Ensure mobile applications comply with relevant regulatory requirements (MDR, FDA) and data privacy standards (GDPR, HIPAA where applicable).
Support software validation processes and maintain appropriate technical documentation.
Identify and reduce technical risks and long-term technical debt.
Collaborate with product owners and delivery teams during planning and development.
Qualifications
6–10 years of experience in mobile application development or architecture.
University degree in the field of computer science, software engineering, IT or equivalent.
Strong hands-on experience with iOS and/or Android development.
Solid understanding of mobile app architecture, APIs, and cloud-based services.
Experience with authentication/authorization patterns for healthcare or regulated applications.
Experience evaluating and using cross-platform frameworks is a plus.
Familiarity with MDR/FDA compliance considerations for mobile medical applications is a plus.
Understanding data privacy requirements (GDPR, HIPAA) and software validation practices is a plus.
Ability to explain technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience working in regulated or enterprise environments is a plus.
