Professional certification as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and one of the following: Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). Position Description:

The Audit Manager reports to the Director of Audit Services.  This position assists the director in assessing risk across all university sectors with the objective of improving the operational, compliance, and financial performance of the university.  The manager will help develop solutions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the department and of the university.  This individual will help manage the Audit Services team, including staff development, and will assist in the development and maintenance of effective working relationships with  university administration.

U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident Status required: position must be able to receive/review and/or evaluate export-controlled information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help prepare a comprehensive, risk-based annual audit plan.  Routinely monitor the risk profile of the university and recommend adjustments to the audit plan to address emerging risks.

  • Oversee assurance and advisory engagements and resulting reports and ensure they are performed to professional IIA standards, that they add value, and that they are performed in an ethical, efficient, and effective manner.

  • Perform complex assurance and advisory engagements; recommend and negotiate corrective measures to address identified deficiency conditions.  Report on the results and agreed upon  action plans.

  • Perform job performance evaluations and job development plans for staff directly reporting to the manager.

  • Identify potential uses of data analytic software (i.e., IDEA).  Monitor the use of the software to ensure it remains a viable audit tool.

  • Maintain the Audit Procedures Manual

  • Represent the Director in his/her absence

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a related field desirable.

  • Experience with Workday, TeamMate audit management software, and IDEA data analytics software. 

  • 5 years of experience as an internal auditor in higher education working on progressively more complex projects, performing the following: project planning; identifying associated risks and compensating controls; writing  and executing audit programs; performing data analysis; identifying operating effectiveness and efficiency improvements; communicating issues to various levels of university administration; and negotiating effective corrective action plans.

  • Proficient in MicroSoft Office products

  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
