
About this role
The Oracle NoSQL Database development team delivers an industry leading horizontally scalable, shared nothing, distributed cloud database. Use your deep skills in distributed systems, database internals, and high performance computing to work on one of the premier industrial strength NoSQL Databases in the market today.
You will be responsible for building and enhancing a distributed query language and execution framework that handles massive datasets across a sharded architecture while maintaining predictable single-digit millisecond response times. You will also be part of an exceptional team solving some of the world's most challenging distributed cloud database problems. Required Skills and Experience
- A minimum of twelve years working on the development of mission critical, large-scale systems
- Deep experience with complex distributed systems and parallel distributed algorithms
- Deep experience with SQL query runtime concepts including
- Distributed Query Planning
- Query optimization
- Query re-write
- Strong knowledge of Java, C++, or C
- Deep knowledge of relational algebra, B-Tree/LSM-Tree storage engines, and indexing strategies
- Familiarity with consensus protocols (Paxos or Raft) and the trade-offs of the CAP Theorem
- Strong knowledge of concurrent programming in distributed environments
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Experience working in large scale cloud environments, ideally on cloud software service
- A relentless curiosity for new technologies, programming paradigms, and systems
- MS, or PHD in computer science or equivalent industry experience
Highly Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of database internals (indexed access methods, transactions, and consistency models)
- Knowledge of log structured storage systems
- Knowledge of performance tuning and analysis in large scale distributed systems
As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only
CA: Hiring Range in CAD from: $103,700 to $153,700 per annum.
US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
