About this role
About us
Our Advanced EV Development team is a high-velocity group based in California tasked with creating Ford’s third-generation electric vehicles. We are looking for a Strategic Finance Lead who thrives at the intersection of strategy, unit economics, and storytelling.
This is a high-impact role for a finance professional who possesses a "first principles" mindset and an ownership mentality, someone who is willing to get their hands dirty to solve ambiguous challenges and drive the roadmap to product profitability.
What You’ll Do…
In this role, you will lead the strategic development of long-term cost management and profitability programs. You will:
- Own the strategy and implementation of cost-reduction programs in partnership with Engineering, Purchasing, and Manufacturing to ensure best-in-class vehicle attributes while maximizing long-term company returns.
- Support new product launches and initiatives, including early-stage pricing, packaging, and business development deals structuring to enhance product contribution margins.
- First Principles Analysis: Lead business case analysis on complex vehicle product attributes and user experience changes, enabling business unit leaders to make informed decisions that impact the end customer.
- Establish and manage the key metrics underpinning EV revenue and gross margin performance. You will break down customer revenue and COGS to the unit figure across the full breadth of the vehicle program income statement.
- Deliver critical updates and high-quality presentations to executive stakeholders, up to and including Board of Directors-level materials. You will distill complex financial data into actionable insights and compelling narratives.
- Deploy best-in-class data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI) to ensure continuous availability of information versus static reporting.
- Stay updated on global market trends and competitive dynamics to refine financial strategies and GTM (go-to-market) purchase experience strategies.
You'll Have...
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Economics or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- 6-10+ years in investment banking, consulting, or operational finance within a fast-paced environment that has undergone significant technological transformation.
- Expert modeling skills (Excel) and experience with data visualization tools. Experience with enterprise management & planning systems a plus.
- A demonstrated ability to critically evaluate opportunities and risks in financials, bringing a first-principles approach to solve ambiguous challenges.
- Exceptional presentation skills; the ability to be concise and fluent in executive-level communication.
- A track record of challenging the status quo and taking the initiative to deliver continuous improvement across all facets of the job.
Even better, you may have...
- MBA, in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing finance teams.
- Experience in a scaling technology or hardware company where you built a "followership" and elevated organizational standards.
This position is at leadership level 6 and ranges from $123,960 to $ 234,000.
