Victoria University (VU) Sydney's partnership with the Education Centre of Australia (ECA) - dating back more than a decade - offers internationally recognised and industry relevant courses to international and domestic students. We offer range of undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in business, information systems and early childhood education.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Compliance Officer to join our team at VU Sydney/Brisbane. This role will be based in our Sydney Campus office. Key Responsibilities:
The role supports the implementation of compliance processes and provides additional support across student administration processes, including non-engagement, academic progression, course completion, and other related services for Victoria University Sydney and Brisbane.
Key duties include (but are not limited to):
- Planning and overseeing quality assurance processes, including development of process manuals, procedures, workflows, and communication templates, and coordinating internal audits related to the Student Lifecycle, to ensure VU Sydney and Brisbane remain compliant with legislative frameworks and Victoria University policies.
- Processing student course variations for VU Sydney and Brisbane within prescribed timeframes set by regulatory frameworks, Victoria University policies, and organisational service delivery standards.
- Planning and delivering compliance training programmes to ensure VU Sydney and Brisbane staff understand student administration processes under the ESOS Act 2000 and National Code 2018.
- Preparing and presenting periodic compliance reports for Student Administration.
- Identifying and implementing automation solutions to streamline compliance functions for VU Sydney and Brisbane.
- Maintaining accurate compliance and student records across VU Student System, campus Systems, and PRISMS.
- Providing excellent customer service through prompt resolution of telephone, email, and face-to-face inquiries, including assisting with student administration applications.
- Engaging directly with students to resolve administration issues promptly.
- Supporting compliance and student administration projects.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement in student administration services.
- Undertaking other duties as required.
Key Selection Criteria
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
- A relevant degree plus compliance-related experience in the education sector.
- Knowledge of the international student lifecycle, from commencement to graduation.
- Commitment to equity and workplace health and safety principles.
Skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong teamwork and stakeholder management skills.
- Advanced planning, organising, and time management skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel) and ability to quickly master student management systems and databases.
Desirable
- At least 1 year in a similar role within the education sector.
- Experience with student management systems and databases.
- Knowledge of the ESOS Act 2000, National Code 2018, and related legislation.
