
About this role
The Operational Financial Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of two companies, Dentsu SSA and Dentsu Uganda, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls, compliance with statutory requirements, and providing operational and management support to drive sound financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee daily financial operations, including accounting, cash flow management, and transactional processing
- Prepare monthly management accounts, variance analyses, and financial reports
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial information
- Monitor budgets and forecasts, and provide insights on cost control and profitability
- Manage annual external audit
Operational Support
- Partner with operational and departmental managers to support business performance, including monthly review of divisional heads revenue trackers to ensure accurate and timely capturing of financial information in the ERP system
- Assist commercial teams with quarterly budget preparation and analysis to ensure teams are aware of where they are tracking
- Support the accountant, junior accountant and Ugandan commercial team with training, enquiries and other ad-hoc requests
- Drive clean-up actions through managing accountants and external consultant
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with South African financial regulations, including VAT, EMP, Provisional Tax and Annual Income Tax (with assistance of payroll team)
- Ensure compliance with Ugandan financial regulations, including EFRIS, VAT, EMP, WHT, Provisional Tax and Annual Income Tax (with assistance of payroll team and tax consultants)
- Maintain and improve internal financial controls and procedures
- Manage internal and external audits and address audit findings
- Manage tax audits with the help of external consultants
- Ensure compliance with company policies and governance frameworks
Cash Flow & Treasury
- Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital
- Oversee banking relationships, payments, and reconciliations
- Monitor debtors and creditors to ensure optimal cash management
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Supervise and support accountant and junior accountant
- Provide guidance, training, and performance management for the accountants
- Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, banks, and other external stakeholders
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Professional qualification (e.g. BCOM, SAIPA, CIMA) – advantageous
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant financial management experience – media industry experience advantageous
- Experience working with UK and African Markets advantageous
Skills & Competencies
- Strong financial and analytical skills
- Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in financial systems and ERP software - Microsoft Navision experience advantageous
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities
