Purpose of the team
The Analytical Data Services (ADS) division of Verisk’s ISO business is the information refinery for our insurance-industry-experience data stores, ensuring that the country’s largest database of P&C policy and claims information can effectively support the analytical engines underlying the pricing of the US P&C insurance market.
We are a hybrid team of data analysts, data engineers, BI developers, and actuarial engineers that are responsible for the design and implementation of our core data-systems including data ingestion, data integration, data transformation, data analysis, and BI development.
We are committed to improving the data & analytics platform that support a host of products the US P&C industry relies on.
Purpose of the role
- Analyze data from US Personal and Commercial Insurance carriers to identify trends, anomalies, data quality issues, and market dynamics
- Synthesize and summarize key insights from your data analysis into actionable information for internal and external stakeholders
- Develop a robust understanding of the US P&C Insurance markets, policy programs, and pricing models
- Acquire technological skills as your responsibilities expand and new projects are assigned to you
- Assist in the design and development of new data analysis tools to expand the capabilities of your team
- Pursue professional development activities related to: Data Analysis/Science/Governance and P&C Insurance.
- Perform regular data audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of insurance data
- Identify and resolve data quality issues, such as missing values, anomalies, inappropriate code patterns etc.
- Use SQL to write and execute queries in Snowflake to retrieve and analyze data
- Ensure data integrity by implementing data quality standards and best practices
- Collaborate with data engineers and business analysts and other stakeholders to improve data quality processes
- Generate reports on data quality metrics and present findings to stakeholders/clients
- Document data quality issues and the steps taken to resolve them
- Utilize Excel for data analysis, reporting, and visualization tasks
- Work with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and address data quality concerns
- Prepare the documentation.
- Fluency in Business English is required, with the ability to hold professional conversations and communicate clearly and effectively in both written and spoken form (minimum B2 level in both)
- Strong interpersonal/collaboration and communication skills
- Good knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, formulas, conditional formatting)
- Knowledge of SQL (we are open for basic level users but as well as for intermediate proficiency. You will be required to understand and perform JOINs and subqueries)
- Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools for data visualization (Sigma, PowerBI)
- Familiarity with the Jupyter Notebook environment would be considered a strong plus
- Attention to detail to follow elaborate instructions and to spot even little differences in data
- Ability to draw correct conclusions from analyzed data (being able to justify and explain significant differences in trend)
- Ability to manage competing, high priority demands and prioritize workloads while managing projects and multiple responsibilities against strict deadlines
- Willingness to work as a full-time employee from Cracow city-center based office in a hybrid model.
