Job Description
The System Administrator is responsible for the health, security, and performance of Rodeo FX’s IT infrastructure. In collaboration with the infrastructure team, they ensure the smooth operation of application systems, network stability, proactive capacity management, and effective incident response.
Key Accountabilities
System Integration and Automation
- Administer and optimize the Linux RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) environment: installation, configuration, maintenance, and updates of servers and workstations.
- Design, develop, and maintain Bash and Python scripts to automate processes (deployments, backups, monitoring) and system integrations.
- Integrate and leverage configuration management tools such as Ansible to standardize and ensure environment reliability.
- Create, test, and deploy APIs to facilitate system-to-system integration when required.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation as well as customized performance and capacity reports.
Systems Security and Proactive Monitoring
- Ensure system security by administering Fortigate solutions: filtering rules, security policies, VPNs, and threat protection (IPS/IDS, antivirus, web filtering).
- Apply security and compliance best practices, including access management, password policies, MFA, and security audits (GDPR and industry standards).
- Implement proactive monitoring practices to anticipate performance and capacity needs and detect security incidents.
- Monitor and quickly resolve incidents or issues related to system and network security.
Infrastructure Management and Support
- Manage LAN/WAN configurations and ensure their proper operation using Juniper and Fortigate equipment.
- Configure and maintain Juniper routers and switches: VLANs, routing policies, and quality of service (QoS).
- Administer the Active Directory and Azure environment: management of users, groups, organizational units (OUs), GPOs, and access rights.
- Provide second-level support for network and system infrastructure, including escalation to external vendors when required.
- Participate in 24/7 support of network services during incidents or service restoration.
Installation, Maintenance, and Deployment
- Deploy and maintain application systems, Linux RHEL infrastructures, and Active Directory/Azure environments in accordance with industry best practices.
- Manage users and permissions based on the needs of creative and technical teams.
- Collaborate with external vendors to ensure system and service stability, performance, and security.
- Maintain infrastructure and configurations in line with reliability, security, and performance standards.
IT Projects Participation
- Actively participate in infrastructure projects: planning, task execution, progress tracking, and communication.
- Support project managers with regular updates on the status of ongoing work.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Strong expertise in Layer 2/3 network troubleshooting and storage management.
- Proficient in scripting (PowerShell and Python required); knowledge of C# is considered an asset.
- Solid knowledge of application systems, virtualization, cloud solutions, centralized management, and scripting tools.
- Experience with complex infrastructure concepts such as firewalls, routing, VPNs, and security appliances.
- Excellent task prioritization and technical problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to participate in on-call support outside of regular office hours.
