The Ideal Candidate

  • HNC in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline—or equivalent proven experience.
  • Solid understanding of UK engineering health and safety legislation and its practical application.
  • Proven experience managing statutory compliance in an industrial or food manufacturing environment.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Additional training in PUWER, LOLER, and PSSR inspections including industrial steam boilers.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain full compliance with key UK engineering legislation, including PUWER, LOLER, PSSR, DSEAR,EAWR, industrial steam boilers standards , and other relevant regulations.
  • Own the statutory inspection programme, ensuring Written Schemes of Examination, registers, and certifications are up to date and robust.
  • Ensure statutory defects and non‑conformances are risk assessed, prioritised, tracked, and closed out within required timescales.
  • Conduct internal engineering compliance audits and produce clear, accurate reports that document findings, assess performance, outline risks, and define structured action plans for improvement.
  • Support machinery safety, guarding improvements, and engineering modifications in line with legal and industry best‑practice standards.
  • Work closely with competent contractors, inspection bodies, and internal teams to maintain high standards of engineering integrity.
  • Act as the Group subject matter expert for engineering statutory requirements, supporting Engineering, Operations, H&S.
