Cambrian Credit Union is seeking a Standard Operating Procedures Content Writer (SOP Content Writer) to join our dynamic organization.
The SOP Content Writer is responsible for the development of Cambrian’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Manual with the aim to standardize business practices and ensure consistent and high-quality service while adhering to all regulatory requirements, operational procedures, and appropriate controls. The SOP Manual will outline process flows throughout the organization.
Reporting to the Director, Process Optimization, this role works collaboratively with key stakeholders, subject matter experts, and other appropriate parties to write SOPs and complete User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to successfully develop the SOP Manual. The SOP Writer will conduct research to understand current practices and requirements (both regulatory and interdepartmental), which includes conducting interviews, attending branch visits, reviewing existing documents, and observation & analysis.
In the role of SOP Content Writer, you will:
- Develop and write clear, accurate, and concise SOPs into a comprehensive Manual that end-users can readily understand and execute, adhering to established format and templates.
- Gather and interpret information from numerous sources, including Subject Matter Expert (SME) interviews, review of existing documents, process observation/analysis, and external research.
- Collaborate with leaders to ensure any new or revised SOPs align with established SOPs, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Work collaboratively with SMEs to assess and understand any member impact resulting from new or revised SOPs.
- Aid departments in UAT for completeness and accuracy prior to publishing any changes to the SOP Manual.
- Work with appropriate departments to create communications to inform staff of updates to training materials, policies, procedures, upgrades, and new initiatives.
- Ensure documentation meets high standards of quality, clarity, and consistency. Maintain control and ownership over documentation, including changes and approved updates.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Your Education & Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of technical writing experience, with a focus of writing procedural documentation and manuals.
- Post secondary degree, diploma or certificate in Business, Administration, Management, Communications, or equivalent area of study.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong interviewing, critical thinking, and organizational skills; ability to use logic to address challenges with innovative solutions and is open to new concepts, ideas, and approaches.
- Disciplined self-starter with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work well in a diverse environment with multiple and often changing priorities.
- Ability to understand complex technical concepts and translate them to into clear, user-friendly documentation.
- Knowledge of various software packages, including MS Excel, Word, and Power Point.
- Member-centered approach with a strong drive to continuously improve and add value to the business.
- The following will be considered assets:
- Certificate in Technical Writing.
- Prior experience working with controls and regulations.
- Knowledge of SharePoint.
