What you will do
As Fido continues to scale its operations, products, and geographic footprint, the Internal Auditor will play a critical role in strengthening governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks.
This role is responsible for independently evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, financial reporting processes, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance across the organization. The Internal Auditor will partner closely with leadership to identify risks, provide actionable insights, and support sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
Audit & Assurance
- Develop and execute a risk-based internal audit plan aligned with Fido’s business objectives, regulatory environment, and growth strategy.
- Conduct end-to-end internal audits across all departments including finance, operations, product, compliance, research and development functions.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
- Review financial records, transactions, and processes to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Perform follow-up audits to ensure timely and effective remediation of audit findings.
Risk Management & Controls
- Identify, assess, and monitor key risks including business, financial, operational, and regulatory risks.
- Provide recommendations to strengthen internal controls and mitigate identified risks.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of enterprise risk management frameworks.
- Advise management, where applicable, on control design for new products, systems, and process changes.
Regulatory & Compliance Oversight
- Ensure compliance with regulations of Bank of Ghana and other relevant regulators, internal policies, and industry best practices.
- Support BoG examinations and liaise with external auditors and relevant regulators as required.
- Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and assess their impact on Fido’s operations.
Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
- Prepare clear, concise, and insightful audit reports for senior management and the Audit Committee.
- Present audit findings, risk assessments, and recommendations to executive leadership.
- Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, balancing independence with a collaborative approach.
- Coordinate with external auditors to ensure alignment and reduce duplication of effort.
Process Improvement & Advisory
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability.
- Provide advisory support on process redesign, system implementations, and control enhancements.
- Promote a strong culture of accountability, ethics, and risk awareness across the organization.
Who you are
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in internal audit within the financial services or fintech sector.
- Proven experience conducting risk-based audits in regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of internal control frameworks, audit methodologies, and risk assessment practices.
- Experience engaging with senior leadership and Audit Committees.
- Professional certifications such as ICA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA or any relevant experience.
- Exposure to IT audits, data analytics, or automated controls.
