Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

Fandango is looking for a Senior / Staff Network Engineer to architect, secure, and scale the hybrid network infrastructure behind our high-traffic digital properties. Your work will support millions of daily ticket transactions, Rotten Tomatoes scoring and API responses, and streaming experiences through Fandango at Home.

In this role, you will join the Fandango Platform Engineering organization and report to the Director of Network Engineering, collaborating closely with cloud, security, DevOps, SRE, and application engineering teams. You will design and implement resilient network architectures, cloud connectivity, observability systems, and security controls that enable reliable content delivery and fan engagement.

If you enjoy solving complex network challenges on a scale, enabling seamless digital experiences, and working across diverse engineering teams, you’ll thrive here.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Senior / Staff Network Engineer, you will:

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise routing and switching architectures using Cisco and Juniper
  • Architect, deploy, and support Palo Alto and Fortigate firewall platforms, including segmentation, VPN, NAT, and HA configurations
  • Engineer and operate AWS network infrastructures including Transit Gateway, Direct Connect / Direct Connect Gateway, multi-VPC designs, PrivateLink, and multi-account routing
  • Build and optimize connectivity patterns for e-commerce, streaming, and high-volume API traffic
  • Leverage AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, and SolarWinds to monitor network performance, build dashboards, configure alerting, and conduct diagnostics
  • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, including modules, pipelines, and versioned deployment workflows
  • Troubleshoot complex hybrid-network issues involving AWS, on-prem systems, CDN partners, and application workloads
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to ensure availability and rapid incident response for mission-critical services
  • Conduct root-cause analyses and drive long-term reliability improvements
  • Collaborate with SRE, Platform, Cloud, and Security teams on architecture, operations, and incident response
  • Create clear documentation, including network diagrams, standards, and runbooks
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to network strategy and lifecycle planning
  • Travel for work when required (team onsite meetings, vendor coordination, data center visits)

Qualifications

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Minimum 5–7 years of professional network engineering experience supporting large-scale or mission-critical systems
  • Deep expertise in routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EVPN/VXLAN) using Cisco and Juniper equipment
  • Strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto and Fortigate firewalls
  • Proficiency in AWS networking technologies including Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VPC design, PrivateLink, and hybrid connectivity
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform
  • Strong operational experience using AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, and SolarWinds
  • Ability and willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
  • Excellent communication, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration skills

BONUS POINTS FOR:

  • Experience with CDNs (Akamai, CloudFront) or media delivery at scale
  • Knowledge of load balancers (F5, NGINX, HAProxy, AWS ALB/NLB)
  • Familiarity with PCI or compliance-driven network segmentation
  • Experience supporting microservices or distributed system architectures
  • Exposure to SD-WAN, Zero Trust, or SASE network models
  • Automation experience (Python, Ansible, etc.)

Fully Remote: This role has been designated as fully remote, meaning it is expected to be performed from a worksite, typically an employee’s residence.
