Sony Music Australia is seeking a visionary and strategic VP, of Marketing to lead the development and execution of world-class marketing and creative initiatives across our diverse artist roster and commercial businesses. This executive leader will shape the creative direction of our campaigns, drive global audience engagement, and accelerate revenue growth in an increasingly dynamic and competitive music landscape.

What You'll Do

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and lead the overall marketing and creative strategy to elevate artists, grow audiences, and increase commercial impact.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to set clear goals and align marketing efforts with broader business objectives.
  • Provide forward-thinking insights on market trends, audience behaviour, and competitive positioning.
  • Responsibilities include managing frontline marketing, catalogue, promo & publicity and creative teams.
  • Drive innovation across digital, social, experiential, and traditional marketing channels.
  • Represent Sony Music Australia as a creative and strategic leader within the global Sony ecosystem.

Creative Direction

  • Shape and evolve the creative voice of the label, ensuring consistent, compelling storytelling across all platforms.
  • Lead the creative vision for artist campaigns, including releases, branding, content, live performance marketing, and promotional assets.
  • Oversee the production of high-impact brand and artist campaigns across digital, print, social, and experiential channels.
  • Champion the use of emerging technologies, platforms, and content formats to engage global audiences.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of marketers, creatives, producers, and digital strategists.
  • Set clear performance expectations, KPIs, and deliverables, ensuring timely and high-quality execution.
  • Build strong relationships with global Sony marketing teams and coordinate international campaign efforts.

Campaign Execution & Performance

  • Oversee end-to-end development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns for artists, releases, and additional business units (e.g., Talent Management, Masterworks Live, Ceremony of Roses).
  • Drive audience acquisition, engagement, and retention strategies with a strong focus on ROI.
  • Use data, analytics, and insights to track performance, optimise campaigns, and inform strategic decisions.
  • Monitor industry trends and consumer behaviour to guide marketing strategy.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with A&R, PR, D2C, Digital and Commercial teams to ensure cohesive and effective campaign execution.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, innovation, and inclusive collaboration across departments.

Innovation & Trendspotting

  • Stay at the forefront of digital media, fan engagement, and emerging technologies.
  • Identify and leverage new platforms, tools, and cultural trends to create groundbreaking marketing opportunities.

Financial & Vendor Management

  • Develop, manage, and optimise marketing and creative budgets. Working within budgeted % of spend to revenue for each repertoire stream
  • Drive ROI while maintaining high creative standards.
  • Negotiate with vendors, agencies, and third-party partners to maximise value.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years’ experience in marketing leadership roles within music, entertainment, or media.
  • Proven success leading large-scale artist or entertainment campaigns with measurable impact.
  • Deep expertise in digital marketing, brand strategy, content, social media, and fan engagement.
  • Strong understanding of consumer behaviour and global entertainment market dynamics.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Recognised as a strong value’s centric leader and enthusiastic team player.
  • Ability to analyse audience trends, develop insights and determine implement strategy to maximise impact.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with experience driving high-ROI marketing programs.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, creative, and constantly evolving environment.
  • Extensive industry network across media, influencers, agencies, and creative communities.
