Club Marconi is known as the sports and entertainment hub for the local area in Western Sydney (Bossley Park). The club has over 52,000 members and brings a multitude of cultures together under the one roof.
At Club Marconi we offer a magnificent function venue (in partnership with Doltone House) as well as 4 other dining options.
We offer a range of sporting facilities including: 5 Soccer fields; 1 Rugby League field: 5 Netball courts; 6 lane Bocce; Snooker and Billiards: Softball training fields; Cricket field; Indoor Cricket nets; Fencing Academy; 5 Tennis courts; and 4 Squash courts. We really are the hub of sport in the community.
The Position
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Accountant will be responsible for performing a range of accounting and financial functions to support the corporate financial obligations of Club Marconi Ltd.
The position requires strong business and financial acumen with a practical focus and exceptional stakeholder management skills.
The successful applicant will be highly organised and analytical, able to provide reliable and timely reporting to internal stakeholders and supporting the day-to-day financial transactional requirements across Club Marconi. They will also oversee auditing and reporting, fixed assets, ledger accuracy and integrity, tax preparation and provide support to the CFO.
Responsibilities:
• Transactional support to the business
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
• Month-end close and reporting
• Cashflow, Budgeting and Forecasting
• Maintain the Fixed Asset Register
• Partner with internal stakeholders to identify and execute on business improvement
• Revenue analysis and integration of data into accounting system
• Provide leadership and coaching to the finance team
• Ad hoc financial analysis, projects, and duties
The successful applicant will have:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
• Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or Business discipline – CA / CPA qualified
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, statutory regulations, and tax legislation
• Ability to work to tight deadlines, prioritise and use your initiative
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• ‘People person’ with a positive personality and a great team player
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience managing a finance team
• Demonstrate advanced competency in Microsoft Office skills
Desirable:
• Knowledge of computerised accounting program, preferably ADEPT
• Knowledge of AP Automation Purchase Order system Medius Flow
