The Team:

The Hermès Beverly Hills Flagship Boutique opened in 1972 and focuses on providing extraordinary service to clients as a part of the Western Region. The Opportunity:

The primary responsibilities of the Tailor are: the alterations of Hermès merchandise within an established time-frame, helping to maintain client relationships through superior service, and working effectively with other team members within the boutique. This position is responsible for providing outstanding customer service for the (store name) Boutique by ensuring the proper fit, marking, altering, and pressing of garments. This position also must support the selling process by greeting and interacting with clients, performing fitting and handling all special requests or immediate alteration needs. About The Role:

Complete all fittings in a timely manner, ensuring the proper fit and tailoring of garments within Hermès standards;
Understand style and fit of various garments. Maintain an up to date product knowledge of Hermès Women's and Men’s collections seasonally;
Demonstrate strong proficiency in operating tailor shop equipment including, but not limited to industrial sewing/ straight stitch machine, blind hemmer/serger machine, button machine, cutting table, and pressing/steaming equipment;
Advise clients (internal and external) on product alterations, providing accurately calculating lead times and cost to ensure expectations are managed;
Maintain an excellent level of customer service at all times within the store. Foster client relationships to increase brand loyalty and repeat business;
Demonstrate a clear understanding of client needs;
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the luxury retail market and competitors;
Press all altered clothing. Be aware of pressing techniques for various weights of fabric;
Assist in teaching store personnel basic pressing techniques;
Learn, retain, understand and communicate an awareness of merchandise features and benefits of all existing and new product.
Travel domestically and to Paris as needed to participate in MTM and Bespoke trainings as scheduled.

About You:

8+ years of experience in alterations, in a luxury environment;
Exude the spirit of Hermès through sound tailoring skills, knowledge, and experience;
Exhibit a professional understanding of garment fitting, knowledge of fabrics, styling and manufacturing techniques;
Demonstrate strong working knowledge of garment construction and men’s suiting techniques in luxury;
Strong knowledge of different fabrications and materials;

Job Description

The Uniform Tailor responsibilities include, but are not limited to the mending of deficiencies either in the employee uniforms or with other garments or linens used on the premises.

Assist guests with their sewing/tailoring needs.
Measure and tailor uniforms for all new colleagues.
Ability to maintain and upkeep the uniforms for over 650 employees.
Makes needed alterations to uniforms on an on-going basis.

About The Position

The Tailor a role constructs 18th century-style garments and accessories from historically accurate patterns using both historical and modern sewing methods utilizing several different kinds of natural fibers including wool, silk, linen, and cotton. Choices related to construction may be needed and should be made with a clear and appropriate understanding of the fashion of the latter 18th century. All team members are expected to work quickly and execute the required tasks with speed and accuracy.

Main Duties:

•Constructs 18th century-style garments using knowledge of historical and modern sewing techniques as directed by the cutter/draper and first hands. Tailor A will execute those techniques using both hand sewing and machine sewing.
•Alters garments to Cutter/Draper’s or First Hand’s instructions.
•Assists Cutter/Draper or First Hands in fittings as needed.
•Consults with First hands, Cutter/Draper and Department Manager about finishing techniques to create an 18th century-style garment that is accurate, wearable, and presents a clear interpretation of daily clothing worn in 18th century Williamsburg.
•Communicates any complications, textile issues, garment construction problems or needs quickly and efficiently with the First Hands and Cutter/Draper.
•Analyzes the garment construction methods in accordance with the textile that is chosen and its specific needs in relation to the historical accuracy of the period represented by Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. If more efficient or historically accurate methods are discovered, those methods are immediately brought to the attention of the Cutter/Draper, First Hands, or Manager for approval.
•Consult with manager, specialized fashion trades people, or the Historical Clothing and Dress Committee to find direction for their technique and skill development as it pertains to clothing.

As Tailor, I will assume full responsibility for the efficient operation in the following:
Do all tailoring works like making of host uniforms, mending or repairing them as and when required, making of guest room upholstery, curtains, aerolux blinds etc. as and when directed by the Laundry Manager.
Respond to guest requests and immediately handles issues and feedback related to Laundry Manager.
Ensure that guest requests for any mending, repairing etc. are delivered promptly.
Maintain a high standard of hygiene and sanitation throughout all areas.
Upkeep Six Senses guidelines and standards of service and operation. My performance benchmarks are maintained and exceeded.
Strictly adhere to LQA standards and guest comments.
Qualifications
To execute the position of Tailor , I must have the required qualifications, technical skills and experience in a similar role in luxury hotels with proven results and includes the following:
High school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years’ experience in a similar hotel operational setting.
Technical skills include advanced MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. I am also familiar with various
hotel systems including POS and PMS platforms. I have good knowledge of laundry operations, linen handling, and tailoring skills and procedures.
Fluent in English.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tailor/Seamstress to manage all tailoring needs within our property, including uniform alterations, repairs, and custom fittings. This role plays an important part in maintaining a polished and professional appearance for staff and contributing to guest satisfaction by providing alteration services when needed.

Your Day-To-Day:

Perform sewing, mending, altering, and fitting duties on uniforms, costumes, linens, and guest clothing as required.
Ensure proper fitting and tailoring of all team member uniforms according to company standards and dress codes.
Take accurate measurements and provide recommendations for alterations and fittings.
Repair damaged garments, including replacing zippers, buttons, linings, and other fastenings.
Maintain sewing equipment (machines, scissors, irons) in good working condition.
Track and document all tailoring and repair work completed.
Assist in the issuance, labeling, and inventory of uniforms and wardrobe items.
Ensure that all finished work meets the required quality and aesthetic standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
Respond to urgent requests, including last-minute fittings and repairs, especially during events or peak operations.
Assist with uniform room duties when required.

What We Need From You:

Proven experience as a tailor, seamstress, or garment technician.
Skilled in operating sewing machines, overlockers, and other tailoring tools.
Strong understanding of different fabric types and tailoring techniques.
Ability to take precise measurements and complete alterations accurately.
Basic record-keeping and inventory skills.
High school diploma or equivalent; formal tailoring or fashion training is a plus.
Physically able to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.

Job Overview

The Tailor’s primary responsibility is to sew garments, either to repair or to alter to customer’s tastes and to operate on sewing equipment. Perform other duties as necessary.

Essential Functions

Perform basic alterations on garments including, but not limited to, sleeves, backs, sides, collars and bodices, inserting shoulder pads, altering waists, taking out hems to lengthen, shortening lengths, and adding cuffs
Do minor repairs to garments by replacing buttons, mending seams, and replacing hem
Provide an exceptional customer experience by ensuring the customer is always the priority
Give advice regarding the fit and care of garments to customers
Write up alterations tickets recording the details of the alterations being made on the garment
Press and steam garments before returning to customer
Be knowledgeable of styles, fits, and fabrics to better serve the customer
Maintain records for alterations department
Inform team leader/ CSX manager of supply needs that arise in daily operations
To carry out the more complex customer fittings as needed
Follows shortage programs and procedures
Dependable attendance and punctuality

Qualifications And Competencies

High School Diploma or equivalent required
Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate and share information with diverse groups of customers and peers.
Resourceful and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
Resourceful self-starter, works well independently as well as part of a team, and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays
Prior experience a plus

Essential Physical Requirements You Will Perform

This position requires lifting, constant moving, standing, and reaching with arms and hands.\n
Must be able to operate and perform basic maintenance on sewing machines.
Frequent use of computers and other technology, necessary to perform job functions, including handheld equipment, cash register and ability to process register transactions

As an Alterations Apprentice, you’ll play a dual role—part dedicated student, part magician. Our apprentice program is a great way to break into the tailor trade. This on-the-job training will set you up for a fun fashion career in our Tailor Shop.

About

Job Overview

The Tailor’s primary responsibility is to sew garments, either to repair or to alter to customer’s tastes and to operate on sewing equipment. Perform other duties as necessary.

Essential Functions

Perform basic alterations on garments including, but not limited to, sleeves, backs, sides, collars and bodices, inserting shoulder pads, altering waists, taking out hems to lengthen, shortening lengths, and adding cuffs
Do minor repairs to garments by replacing buttons, mending seams, and replacing hem
Provide an exceptional customer experience by ensuring the customer is always the priority
Give advice regarding the fit and care of garments to customers
Write up alterations tickets recording the details of the alterations being made on the garment
Press and steam garments before returning to customer
Be knowledgeable of styles, fits, and fabrics to better serve the customer
Maintain records for alterations department
Inform team leader/ CSX manager of supply needs that arise in daily operations
To carry out the more complex customer fittings as needed
Follows shortage programs and procedures
Dependable attendance and punctuality

Qualifications And Competencies

High School Diploma or equivalent required
Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate and share information with diverse groups of customers and peers.
Resourceful and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
Resourceful self-starter, works well independently as well as part of a team, and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays
Prior experience a plus

Essential Physical Requirements You Will Perform

This position requires lifting, constant moving, standing, and reaching with arms and hands.\n
Must be able to operate and perform basic maintenance on sewing machines.
Frequent use of computers and other technology, necessary to perform job functions, including handheld equipment, cash register and ability to process register transactions
Involves standing for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 50lbs., stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders
Reaching, including above eye level, crouching, kneeling, and stooping
Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
