Project Overview

The Longitudinal Study of Health and Ageing in Kenya (LOSHAK) is a national research initiative examining the health, economic, social, and environmental factors affecting Kenya’s rapidly growing older adult population. Modeled on the U.S. Health and Retirement Study, LOSHAK will collect and disseminate high-quality data harmonized with global aging studies in over 45 countries. The project’s mission is to inform public health policy and improve the health, economic circumstances, and wellbeing of older Kenyans. This study is implemented by the Department of Population Health at Aga Khan University in collaboration with international partners and supported by the National Institute on Aging of the National Institute of Health, US.

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral Research Associate to lead and support key research activities for the LOSHAK project. The Research Associate will play a central role in study protocol development, regulatory approvals, data management and analysis, manuscript preparation, field coordination, stakeholder engagement, and overall quality control of the study. The ideal candidate is a recent PhD graduate in a health-related field (e.g. Public Health, Epidemiology, Population Health) with strong research methodology skills and some postdoctoral research experience. This is a full-time, five-year position in which the incumbent will work under the supervision of the LOSHAK Principal Investigator to ensure the study’s successful implementation and scientific excellence. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research on ageing in Africa. The successful candidate will gain experience in all phases of the research process – from conception to dissemination – and work closely with leading experts at Aga Khan University and the University of Michigan. The role is ideal for a recent PhD graduate looking to build an academic career in population health research while making a meaningful impact on policy and practice.

Key Responsibilities

Study Design & Protocol Development: Contribute to study conceptualization and design, including drafting and refining research protocols and instruments to meet the project’s objectives. Prepare documentation for Institutional Scientific and Ethics Review Committee (ISERC) submissions, and ensure all regulatory approvals are obtained and maintained throughout the project lifespan.
Project Coordination: Coordinate the day-to-day implementation of the project to meet milestones and timelines. This includes developing fieldwork plans, scheduling and supervising data collection activities, and monitoring project progress against targets. Ensure smooth collaboration across the multi-disciplinary project team (local and international) and proactively identify and resolve operational challenges.
Development of Research Tools & SOPs: Lead the development and refinement of data collection tools (surveys, interview guides, assessment forms) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all aspects of study implementation. Continuously update study protocols and SOPs as needed to reflect best practices and lessons learned during the project.
Field Staff Training & Supervision: Oversee the recruitment, training, and supervision of field staff, including enumerators, interviewers, and other research assistants and students. Develop training manuals and conduct training sessions to ensure field teams are well-versed in study procedures, ethical research conduct, and data collection techniques. Provide ongoing mentorship and support to field teams and enforce adherence to study protocols during fieldwork.
Data Management & Quality Control: Working with the data team, support the establishment and management of robust data management processes for the project. Oversee data collection, entry, cleaning, and secure storage of study data. Ensure data quality by implementing real-time quality checks, field monitoring visits, and periodic audits of collected data. Follow and enforce all project-related SOPs and guidelines during field implementation and take corrective action to address any deviations.
Data Analysis & Interpretation: Work with LOSHAK statisticians to conduct statistical data analyses using appropriate software (e.g. Stata, R) to answer the study’s research questions. Work with the investigative team to interpret results in the context of existing evidence and the Kenyan setting. Apply rigorous research methods and, where appropriate, novel analytical approaches to generate high-quality findings.
Reporting & Documentation: Support the preparation of regular project progress reports and updates for the Principal Investigator, funders, and other stakeholders. Document all research activities thoroughly, including maintaining records of data collection, training, and any protocol amendments. Assist in preparing technical reports and grant reports as required.
Manuscript Writing & Publication: Lead and contribute to the writing of scientific manuscripts to publish the study’s findings in peer-reviewed journals. Conduct literature reviews and collaborate with co-investigators to frame the study results within the broader scientific literature. Take primary responsibility for drafting manuscripts, incorporating co-authors’ inputs, and managing the submission and revision process with journals.
Stakeholder Engagement & Dissemination: Engage with a range of stakeholders at various stages of the project to ensure its success and impact. Liaise with community leaders, local health officials, and district stakeholders to gain community entry and support for field activities. Work with national and international collaborators (including the University of Michigan team) to harmonize study protocols and share learnings. Participate in disseminating research findings to appropriate audiences – including policymakers, academic conferences, and community forums – and lead the preparation of policy briefs and presentations to translate findings into actionable insights.
Quality Assurance: Uphold the highest standards of research ethics and integrity throughout the project. Ensure compliance with all institutional and national research regulations (e.g., obtaining renewals of ethics approvals, adhering to data protection and privacy laws). Continuously monitor study processes for potential issues or biases and implement improvements to maintain scientific rigor.

Qualifications And Experience

Education: PhD in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Population Health, or a related health sciences field. The candidate should have strong training in research methods and study design relevant to population health research.
Research Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant research experience post-PhD, preferably including involvement in large-scale field research or longitudinal studies. Experience in health or demographic research (especially on ageing or non-communicable diseases) in sub-Saharan Africa is highly desirable.
Data Analysis Skills: Proven skills in quantitative data management and analysis, including proficiency in statistical software such as Stata, R or Python. Ability to manage and analyze large datasets and perform advanced statistical analyses is required. Familiarity with qualitative research methods and mixed-methods analysis is an added advantage.
Publication Track Record: A strong record of scholarly output, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications or conference presentations in relevant topics. Excellent scientific writing and literature review skills are essential.
Project Management & Coordination Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage research projects or significant components thereof – from protocol development and ethics submissions to field implementation and team coordination. Experience developing research instruments and overseeing data collection in community settings is highly valued.
Leadership & Teamwork: Excellent organizational and leadership skills, including the ability to supervise and motivate field teams, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines. Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as effectively as part of a multidisciplinary, multicultural team.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders – from community members to academic partners. Proficiency in English (written and oral) is required, with superb report writing and presentation skills. Knowledge of Kiswahili or other local languages is an asset for community engagement (though not mandatory).
Ethical and Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with research ethics processes and regulations in Kenya (or similar contexts), including experience preparing IRB applications and ensuring compliance with human subjects protections. A thorough understanding of data security and confidentiality practices.
Flexibility & Commitment: Willingness to travel within Kenya to oversee fieldwork activities as needed, including to rural or remote areas. Ability to adapt to dynamic field conditions and work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Work closely with project members on experimental design, data interpretation, and supervise students on a day-to-day basis.
Collaborate with staff at the Centre for Microscopy and Analysis and actively participate in the CryoEM User Group.

About You

A PhD in Structural Biology or a related discipline.
Expertise in standard molecular biology and recombinant protein expression and purification methods.
Expertise in sample preparation, data collection and structure analysis using cryoelectron microscopy (single particle analysis).

About The Role:

As a Project Delivery Research Associate, you will play a pivotal role in transforming complex data into actionable insights. Build global and regional company profiles to be used in company and brand data calculations
Work with forecasting specialists to adapt models for regional markets and flag conflicts, validates results against primary research.
Identify relevant sources and critically evaluate information, recognize gaps in research and take logical steps to find the necessary information.
Commission in-country analysts for targeted primary research to fill information gaps and provide local insights. Oversee daily management of ICAs, owning the communication, querying and related admin tasks.
Responsible for data checks throughout data manipulation. Run quality control and provide detailed explanations on sources and data triangulation and the why behind the numbers.
Analyse large datasets and manipulate them as needed to create meaningful category/country estimates, as well as monitoring, reviewing, and cleaning up data for internal and external stakeholders, while maintaining records and resolving quality issues.
Provide explanation and defend our research approach to clients when called upon to do so.
Collaborate with local specialist on basic interaction with clients to build and sustain engagement.
Work closely with other teams providing big data inputs, scalable data sources and local insight.

The Field Research Associate will effectively and safely conduct all aspects of field research and development trials under the direction of the location Field Scientist and/or Field Research Manager. The Division of Population Behavioral Health at the Semel Institute is seeking a detail-oriented, dedicated, and responsible individual to provide research support and data administration for the 4Youth project. The 4Youth Project is a community partnered participatory research project that aims to improve prevention and early intervention mental health and social services for adolescents and young adults. 4Youth is a multisite research study at UCSF and UCLA, that will co-create with youth a mobile app to support the wellbeing of young people and be used along with peer and family navigators in schools and primary care clinics to improve access to social and emotional supports.

Under the direction of the UCLA PI, you will oversee timely data collection, entry, and database management, track completed work and missing data in an organized process; maintain databases, maintain confidentiality of study participants at all times; and handle other administrative tasks related to the research studies as needed.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly skilled research staff personnel member with expertise in murine models of liver disease, including neonatal handling, injection techniques, and tissue harvest. The ideal candidate will have experience in epithelial organoid culture from human liver tissues, immunofluorescence imaging, and co-culture assays to study epithelial-immune interactions, as well as familiarity with IACUC/IRB compliance and transcriptomic data interpretation.

Other Desired Experience Includes:

Proficiency in neonatal and adult mouse handling, injections (e.g., intraperitoneal, retro-orbital), and tissue harvest.
Experience with murine models of biliary atresia, including rotavirus infection protocols, monitoring survival, and scoring disease severity.
Immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy for liver and bile duct tissues.
Expertise in isolating and expanding epithelial organoids from human liver and bile duct biopsies.
Skilled in 3D culture systems using basement membrane extracts (e.g., Matrigel, BME), and media optimization.
Handling of organoids derived at both diagnosis and post-transplantation from pediatric patients.
Proliferation, viability, apoptosis, and differentiation assays.

What You Will Do

The Graphics Design team builds graphic design and character art for style guides used for park merchandise. We craft art for all the Disney, Star Wars, Pixar, and even Marvel stories that will build tangible memories for our Park Guests. As an intern, you will be responsible for the development of graphic design & branding for product development style guides and portfolios across multiple franchises under the direction of project design leads.

On any given day you might:

Craft and produce graphic design assets from concept to final artwork
Coordinate and bring awareness of design, fashion, and market trends to the development of art style and new technique
Build strong POV or mood boards for projects
Contribute new graphic design ideas and participate in brainstorming sessions
Coordinate graphic design standards to meet brand guidelines and strategies
Required Qualifications & Skills
Highly developed graphic design, logo creation, layout and composition, color, pattern making and illustration skills, as well as knowledge of basic production skills
Creative digital literacy specifically in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Proficiency in MS Office Suite
A Diverse Portfolio showcasing a wide range of styles and creative problem solving through design work/examples
Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to work on multiple projects at once while meeting established timelines

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

Advanced traditional and digital drawing skills in addition to concept capabilities
Previous knowledge and experience in Keynote

Summarized Purpose:

Performs and coordinates different aspects of the clinical monitoring and site management process. Conducts remote or on-site visits to assess protocol and regulatory compliance and manages required documentation. Manages procedures and guidelines from different sponsors and/or supervising environments (i.e. FSO, FSP, Government, etc.). Acts as a site processes specialist, ensuring that the trial is conducted in accordance with the approved protocol, ICH-GCP guidelines, applicable regulations and SOPs to guarantee subjects rights, well-being and data reliability. Ensures audit readiness. Develops collaborative relationships with investigational sites. Detailed tasks and responsibilities assigned to role are outlined in the task matrix.

Location Information

This is a home-based position and preferably based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.

Key Responsibilities

Monitors investigator sites with a risk-based monitoring approach: applies root cause analysis (RCA), critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify site processes failure and corrective/preventive actions to bring the site into compliance and decrease risks. Ensures data accuracy through SDR, SDV and CRF review as applicable through on-site and remote monitoring activities. Assess investigational product through physical inventory and records review. Documents observations in reports and letters in a timely manner using approved business writing standards. Escalates observed deficiencies and issues to clinical management expeditiously and follow all issues through to resolution. May need to maintain regular contact between monitoring visits with investigative sites to confirm that the protocol is being followed, that previously identified issues are being resolved and that the data is being recorded in a timely manner. Conducts supervising tasks in accordance with the approved monitoring plan. Participates in the investigator payment process. Ensures a shared responsibility with other project team members on issues/findings resolution. Investigates and follows-up on findings as applicable.
Participates in investigator meetings as vital. Identifies potential investigators in collaboration with the client company to ensure the acceptability of qualified investigative sites. Initiates clinical trial sites according to the relevant procedures to ensure compliance with the protocol and regulatory and ICH GCP obligations, making recommendations where warranted. Performs trial close out and retrieval of trial materials.
Ensures that required crucial documents are complete and in place, according to ICH-GCP and applicable regulations. Conducts on-site file reviews as per project specifications.
Provides trial status tracking and progress update reports to the Clinical Team Manager (CTM) as required. Ensures study systems are updated per agreed study conventions (e.g. Clinical Trial Management System).
Facilitates effective communication between investigative sites, the client company and the PPD project team through written, oral and/or electronic contacts.
Responds to company, client and applicable regulatory requirements/audits/inspections.
Maintains & completes administrative tasks such as expense reports and timesheets in a timely manner.
Contributes to the project team by assisting in preparation of project publications/tools, and sharing ideas/suggestions with team members.
Contributes to other project work and initiatives for process improvement, as required.

Keys To Success

Education And Experience:

Bachelor's degree in a life sciences related fielder a Registered Nursing certification or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification.
Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 1 years as a clinical research monitor) or completion of PPD Drug Development Fellowship. Valid driver's license where applicable.
Therapeutic experience in Oncology essential
Phase I experience essential

Your Tasks:

\n\n As part of your DFG-funded work, you will develop and research innovative ways to improve the mechanical resistance of dental glass-ceramics. Your field of work ranges from the glass melting process to the modification of the microstructure with regard to reinforcement concepts and the characterization of newly developed glass-ceramic materials. You will work closely with other team members and project partners to ensure efficient project processing. Research Associate

Location: Mumbai, India

About This Job.

Research Associate will be responsible for gathering, validating, and formatting the data. This data/charts will support the commercial teams to build insights and recommendations in market research studies. He/she will co-ordinate across internal teams in this regard and support the commercial teams for the clients’ projects and queries by working through databases whenever required.

Responsibilities

Executing tasks to help with link checking for surveys, plus data QC and table formatting of survey results in excel.
Working closely with Commercial consulting teams in a collaborative way for charting data in powerpoint, using analysis plans provided to them.
Adhering to Performance KPIs to ensure quality performances (on-time delivery and data accuracy) and maintain work discipline.
Meeting internal & external deadlines for all deliverables.
Operate in a hybrid physical-virtual and multi-cultural environment, liaising with stakeholders and colleagues.

A Little Bit About You

Intellectual curiosity and persistence while paying attention to details, to find answers to questions and ability to autonomously manage simultaneous tasks/ projects in a fast-paced business environment.

Qualifications

Graduation degree in Commerce, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related field a must.
Good Practical knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent numerical skills
Very good interpersonal skills
Good organization skills, meeting deadlines, and team player
Strong business acumen
English language proficiency: writing and verbal
Knowledge of New Product Development Research preferred
Working in North America Shift (2PM-11PM)
