Key Details:

Hybrid Program: This internship is a hybrid program based in Miami, Florida. Students must be available for the entire duration of the program and willing to work a hybrid schedule, combining both in-office and remote work. This is a full-time opportunity, with interns working 40 hours per week. While hours may vary, interns can expect to work from 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.

Relocation Support: Carnival provides housing for interns who are relocating to Miami for the summer.

Eligibility: Juniors, seniors, and graduate students are preferred for the program.

Technical Requirements: Interns will be provided with a company-issued laptop and will need reliable internet when working remotely.

Health Services – Population Health & Analytics

Department Summary:

The Health Services team at Carnival Corporation is responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of both guests and crew across our global fleet. We partner with shoreside health services, onboard medical teams, and public health leaders to optimize health data and improve decision-making. Our team leverages data analytics and informatics to support health-related initiatives, including crew population health, crew wellness programs, and overall compliance with crew health regulations. We manage electronic health records (EHR) across Carnival’s eight brands and collaborate with external healthcare system vendors to maintain and enhance health informatics solutions.

Internship Project Summary:

Project Title:
Popualtion Health & Crew Wellness Analytics

Objective:
The intern will support crew population health analytics efforts by collecting, cleaning, and analyzing data related to crew wellness and population health. The intern will assist in making data-driven recommendations to further enhance our crew wellness program and overall health outcomes. Collaborating with multiple divisions include Health Informatics, Case Management, Crew Wellness, and Seafarer Medical Certificates, the intern will help validate data and support the development programs to improve the overall wellbeing of the over 150,000 shipboard crew we serve.

Essential Functions:

Assist in the capture, cleaning, and analysis of health data across Carnival’s fleet.

Collaborate with the Health Informatics and Population Health teams to support analysis of trends in communicable diseases, chronic conditions, and health outcomes across the full crew population.

Help assess program effectiveness using KPIs such as participation rates, health outcomes, and cost-benefit metrics

Collaborate on the design and evaluation of health promotion initiatives for crew and guests.

Develop visually appealing data visualizations and reports using tools like Power BI and Excel.

Participate in daily check-ins using an agile project management approach to stay on track with project milestones.

Specific Qualifications:

Academic Background: Enrollment in a Bachelor's (Junior or Senior) or Master’s program in Data Analytics, Health Informatics, Public Health or a related field.

Skills: Proficient in data analysis tools such as Excel, Power BI, Python, R, and SAS. Strong analytical and research skills, attention to detail, and experience with data cleaning and pre-processing.

Additional Experience: Experience with health data, health informatics, or electronic health records (EHR) is preferred.
