Essential Responsibilities :

These are guided tasks in the initial phase of 2 to 3 months and intern is expected to develop good proficiency in the area by half term of internship
1. Learn fundamentals of IP, data base tools and options, Basics of Patents and non-patent literature and apply during analysis phase
2. Learn formation of search strategy to analyze a concept and recommend if it has potential to get a patent using a variety of free and subscribed databases.
3. Develop good understanding on technology landscapes, assess competitive position, and provide relevant conclusions and recommendations

We are actively looking for an intern for our Intellectual Property department for a period of 6 months.

Ability to work alone with light supervision and as part of a team.
Proactive, collaborative, flexible and curious.
Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking skills and solution orientated.
Advanced level of written English and strong reading comprehension skills required. Working language is English. Knowledge of other languages is a bonus.

IP protection

Selection of the most appropriate type of protection (Patent, Design, Copyright, …) and best way to proceed
Definition of the creation/inventions, preparation of the filings (drafting or subcontracting), filings, prosecutions
Participation to the decisions regarding foreign filings,
Definition of product coverage strategy with R&D/Projects
Patent portfolio management

Preventing or defending from third parties actions

Project studies in view of identified competitor patents
Action for reorienting any project in case of infringement risk
Patent clearances and IP Rights validity studies based on one or cluster of families and including risk assessment
Contributions to Oppositions / Nullity suits against patents granted to third parties
Study and follow-up of infringement claims and litigations

Infringement actions against third parties (on the basis of Valeo patents)

Infringement detection and validity check of the files

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Position Overview:
We are seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Director of Intellectual Property (IP) to lead the development and management of our IP strategy across MDA Space’s cutting-edge space technology domains. The Director of IP will lead the protection of MDA’s significant global IP assets (including patents, trade secrets, code, data, and trademarks) and manage MDA Space’s global freedom to operate. Key Job Responsibilities:

Strategic IP Leadership:

Education & Experience:

Intellectual Property Management

Secure freedom-to-operate for Dr Reddy’s products, including clearance of Orange Book and unlisted patents for the bulk API, route of synthesis, finished dosage form and polymorphs
Prepare ANDA patent certifications and the corresponding notice letters and detailed statements
Examine patents, file histories, prior art, ongoing litigations, and citizen’s petitions for possible Paragraph IV and related strategies for ANDA/ANDS, 505(b)(2), and BPCIA products
Conduct IP due diligence and provide IP support towards business development activities

Qualifications

What will you be doing in this role?

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic legal professional to join our legal team as Senior Counsel – Intellectual Property & Transactions. This role will provide critical legal support for our growing biosimilars pipeline, oversee intellectual property strategy and portfolio management (including patents and trademarks), and manage key litigation and transactional matters. This individual will serve as a strategic advisor to leadership on IP-related risks and opportunities and will collaborate cross-functionally to help drive innovation and growth.

The compensation range for this position is $245,000 to $300,000.

Intellectual Property Strategy & Portfolio Management

Serve as the primary legal advisor on intellectual property matters, including patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and copyright issues.
Manage the Company’s patent and trademark portfolio, including prosecution, enforcement, licensing, and renewals.
Collaborate with R&D, Regulatory, and Corporate Strategy teams to assess and manage IP risks related to biosimilar and branded product development.
Oversee IP-related due diligence for business development opportunities, partnerships, and acquisitions.
Partner with external counsel on patent and trademark filings, oppositions, and portfolio strategy.

Litigation & Legal Risk Management

Manage and oversee patent, trademark, and Hatch-Waxman litigation, including coordination with outside counsel and internal stakeholders.
Develop and implement litigation strategies to defend against challenges and enforce the Company’s IP rights.
Stay abreast of legal developments affecting the pharmaceutical and biosimilar sectors and provide risk assessments to senior leadership.

Licensing & Transactions

Lead or support negotiation and drafting of complex IP-related agreements, including in-licenses, out-licenses, development collaborations, material transfer agreements, and technology agreements.
Provide legal guidance and transactional support on strategic partnerships and new product opportunities, particularly related to IP assets.

General Corporate and Commercial Legal Support

Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of agreements across multiple business units, including Purchase Agreements, Vendor & Service Contracts, NDAs, Master Service Agreements, Quality Agreements, and Pharmacovigilance Agreements.
Support compliance with contract lifecycle management systems and internal contract policies and processes.
Provide guidance on regulatory, compliance, and advertising/promotional matters as needed, especially for biosimilars.

Cross-Functional & Internal Support

Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure IP and legal considerations are integrated early in product lifecycle planning.
Collaborate with HR on employment-related legal matters, such as policies, employment agreements, and handbook updates.
Contribute to the development and delivery of internal legal and compliance training.

Preferred Qualifications:

J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to at least one U.S. state bar.
12+ years of experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department, with a focus on intellectual property, litigation, and transactional work in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
Experience managing patent and trademark portfolios, Hatch-Waxman litigation, and licensing transactions.

Prepare patent applications and prosecute patents globally
Handle opposition, IPR, and litigation-related support activities in IP disputes
Act as direct contact for and interact with business clients, outside counsel, and international colleagues

Your Skills And Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
Ten (10) years of law firm and/or in-house IP experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Member of a United States bar in good standing
Registered to Practice before the USPTO

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

Position Summary

The VP of Technology, Licensing and IP will be responsible for commercial and administrative matters related to the company’s intellectual property (IP) assets, including the products and services provided to customers worldwide by our Digital Group. The position will focus on the commercialization of the company’s IP assets; advising on e-commerce and payment processing matters; negotiating, drafting and finalizing IP licenses; advising the company’s licensed property’s group on business and IP issues; interfacing with and advising the company’s personnel and management on IP related issues and disputes; administering the company’s trademark portfolio and advising on trademark-related matters, and working with outside counsel to manage the company’s patent portfolio. The position requires the ability to quickly and accurately spot and analyze legal issues, present positive, creative solutions, and advise management of risks, and work cooperatively with the other members of the Legal Department in these subject matter areas. This position will advise on legal matters in the IP, including but not limited to the filing, prosecution, licensing, and enforcement of IP rights and resolving IP-related disputes. This position also supervises a senior trademark (non-attorney) legal resource.

Job Responsibilities

Advise Digital Lottery team with regard to IP-related issues in product development, licensing and risk management.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, research and development teams, product managers, et al
Negotiate and draft IP licensing agreements for inbound and outbound property transfers.
Advise on IP considerations in commercial contracts, including joint development agreements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Provide legal advice on IP matters to senior executives, business units and R&D teams and evaluate and mitigate potential IP risks and opportunities.
Review, assess, and approve names, images, and artwork on instant scratch tickets, instant win tickets and draw games, as appliable, provided to the lottery industry.
Review and approve all licenses providing lottery customers authorization to the use of third party licensed brands and publications inside and outside the company for IP marking and other considerations.
Identify inventions eligible for patent protection and provide guidance on patentability requirements, patent filing strategies, launch strategies and conduct harvesting sessions to identify protectable technologies.
Develop and execute the global IP strategy to align with business goals and preserve IP rights across multiple jurisdictions.
Manage IP disputes, infringement claims and IP-related litigation.
Manage the trademark portfolio, including evaluating registrability, conducting trademark searches, filing applications and monitoring registrations, maintenance and renewals of trademarks and service marks. across multiple jurisdiction working with outside counsel to draft and prosecute patent applications, monitor patent expiration dates and required maintenance fees.
Work with and manage outside counsel to (i) manage the patent portfolio and (ii) develop and implement strategies to monitor and enforce the company's patent, trademark and other IP rights, assessing the need for litigation, and collaborating with company and outside counsel to initiate legal action when necessary.

Stay current on all IP laws, regulations, new technology and industry trends globally and provide proactive guidance to internal stakeholders on the potential impact of new laws, legal developments and technology on the company's IP strategy and portfolio.
Conduct and report on due diligence review of third party IP rights including in connection with mergers and acquisitions and business analysis.
Conduct training sessions and workshops for employees to enhance their understanding of IP laws, regulations, and best practices and to promote IP awareness and compliance within the company.

Qualifications

Required

Education:

Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
Current member in good standing, or registered in-house counsel, with the bar of at least one U.S. state required.

Required Experience:

8+ years of relevant experience at a national law firm, in-house at a comparable company, or some combination thereof.
Deep understanding of technology (including cloud computing, machine learning, genAI and payment processing tools), trademark law, copyright law, payment processing and trade secret protection, with exposure to patent practice preferred.
Experience in providing advice and counsel to employees at all levels of a business with regard to IP matters.
Experience conducting and responding to IP due diligence.
Prior ownership of maintaining clear and easily accessible IP or IP licensing records and portfolio.
Experience leading negotiations and advising business leads regarding IP licensing issues and related commercial matters.
Proficiency with software architecture, functionality and terminology, particularly as it relates to e-commerce and transaction processing.

Required Skills & Experience

Clearance Required: Secret
Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of experience working intellectual property analysis, to include 3+ years of experience working and conducting Data rights assessments\n
- Degree substitution: 11 years of related experience in lieu of a degree

Familiarity with laws and policies covering Data Rights, including the appropriate FARS and DFARS clauses, Army Directive 2018-26, 10 USC 2320, DODI 5230.44, and 5010.44; and a willingness to expand on that knowledge

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Prepare and file documents relating to the prosecution of patent applications in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
Create, update, and maintain electronic patent docket records for in-house attorneys/agents and prepare reports.
Correspond with affiliates relating to patent prosecution, opinion work, client counseling, and litigation matters handled by in-house attorneys.
Create, organize, and maintain files in connection with patent prosecution, infringement clearance, and litigation.n
Work within a group email inbox environment to review and act on incoming correspondence.
Communicate with outside counsel and document information within the docketing system.m
Review incoming workflows from the global docketing group, and audit docketing system for accuracy.
Assist with management of related art references from incoming office actions, docket Information Disclosure actions, and file Information Disclosure Statements
Obtain signatures from inventors and attorneys on assignments and declarations.
Support general administrative activities for Group Patents, including event coordination and meeting planning.

Who you are:

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

You have a minimum of two years of U.S. patent prosecution experience working in an in-house legal environment or law firm in a legal assistant role or similar.
Education: HR certification, or at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent

Knowledge of Anaqua, Lucidchart, and Docusign is a plus.
