To be qualified as a director, a person must:

Be at least 21 years of age. Hold a current certification in first aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training; Twelve (12) hours of training in healthy, safe environments; child development; observation and assessment; developmentally appropriate practice; guidance; relationship with families; individual and cultural diversity or business and professional development; childcare.
At least six (6) months experience working in a childcare program or other children's program.

Qualifications:

You're 18 years or older and hold a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Education And Experience:

To be qualified as a director, a person must possess either:

Two years of college with 18 credits in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field; and two years of direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a child care program or related field of work.

Or

A New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential; and two years of direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a child care program or related field of work.

Or

A School-Age Child Care Credential or another office-recognized credential specific to the school-age developmental period; and two years of direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a child care program or related field of work.

Education And Experience:

To be qualified as a director, a person must possess either:

Two years of college with 18 credits in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field; and two years of direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a child care program or related field of work.

Or

A New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential; and two years of direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a child care program or related field of work.

Or

A School-Age Child Care Credential or another office-recognized credential specific to the school-age developmental period; and two years of direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a child care program or related field of work.

Or

Requirements

Education And Experience:

To be qualified as a director, you shall meet or exceed the following qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field and 1 year of experience with children.

Or

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field and 2 years of experience with children.

Or

An associate degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field and 3 years of experience with children.

Or

An associate degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field, and 4 years of experience with children.

Qualifications:

At least ten months direct work experience with school age children OR
Vermont On-the-Job Training certificate OR

Vermont Teacher Licensure OR
Master’s Degree in a youth-related field
