Job Description

The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for ensuring payroll tax compliance and reconciliations in Canada, as well as providing tax support for the United States. You will play a vital role in delivering accurate statutory reporting, timely remittance submissions, and resolving payroll tax issues, while also supporting payroll processing as needed. You will have hands on exposure to cross-border payroll operations, collaboration with internal stakeholders, and participation in audits and compliance initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage Payroll tax processes across monthly, quarterly and year end -cycles.
  • Prepare and file monthly, quarterly and annual payroll taxes for federal, provincial and local as needed.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll tax discrepancies, penalties and agency notices.
  • Verify data for accuracy to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Monitor legislative change and assess payroll tax impacts.
  • You will provide guidance to the payroll processor regarding payroll runs. 
  • Prepare vacation liability reports for Canada sites. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
  •  Coordinate vacation payouts.

Qualifications

Required:

  • HS Diploma
  • Minimum of two years Payroll tax experience 
  • Strong Knowledge of Canadian and US payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements
  • PCP or PLP certification  
  • Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in auditing techniques and advanced payroll compliance knowledge
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities  

Preferred:

  • SAP experience
