Summary:
Reporting directly to the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer, the incumbent will provide support for Bennington’s Compliance program to ensure Bennington is compliant with all applicable governing legislation, regulations and internal corporate policies, including but not limited to anti-money laundering, privacy, code of conduct, whistleblower events, and customer complaints.

The Work!

  • Drafting and revising internal policies, procedures and reports
  • Carrying out day-to-day tasks associated with internal policies and procedures
  • Supporting Bennington’s Ethics Commissioners and Privacy Officer, as well as other key internal stakeholders (Executive team, department heads, etc.) with privacy, whistleblower, and other Compliance matters
  • Identifying and interpreting new and changing Compliance requirements as well as industry ‘best-practices’
  • Identifying risks in internal processes and procedures and researching possible solutions
  • Assisting with new Compliance initiatives, including dissemination of information and training
  • Liaising with, and providing support to, various Bennington departments and stakeholders on Compliance-related matters
  • Monitoring and tracking Compliance-related events and assisting with investigations, as requested
  • Assisting with internal and external reporting requirements and audits; and
  • Other matters as may be requested from time to time.

Special Projects:

  • The successful candidate will be given considerable responsibility and will have primary hands-on carriage of a number of compliance-related processes and initiatives under the supervision of the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer.
  • The above accountabilities must be managed effectively in order to avoid significant potential risks (e.g., reputational, legal and regulatory) for Bennington.

Your Exprience:

  • University education, preferably in business, compliance or law.
  • Minimum 7 years of compliance-related experience, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Experience writing policies, procedures and workflows would be considered an asset.
  • Industry recognized certifications are considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of PIPEDA, provincial privacy and personal information legislation, and other legislation impacting the financial services sector
  • Ability to conduct statutory analysis and apply in practical settings
  • Experience developing corporate policies, procedures and guidelines
