SUMMARY:

Under direction of the Environmental Services Director, supervises and coordinates safety duties for the facility and residents.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Observes facility for general safety. Monitors safety equipment, and procedures per safety compliance schedule. (See list of job duties.)
2. Keeps a current SDS notebook of all chemicals used at Bethany Home.
3. Operates appropriate equipment to perform safety compliance duties.
4. Conducts Hazcom and OSHA training for all new employees and students in the facility. Talks with contractors regarding safety while working for the facility.
5. Coordinates and maintains, change analysis, job safety analysis and safety ambassador programs.
6. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with management staff, employees, residents, and the general public.
7. Updates lock out/ tag out as needed.
8. Assist in accident investigations and any needed retraining.
9. Conduct monthly safety committee meetings. Works with the committee to find new ways to make Bethany Home a safer environment for residents, staff and visitors.
10. Maintains records of all training.
11. Conducts monthly fire drills with assistance of fire safety committee.
12. Attends or conducts staff and employee meetings/in-service as required.
13. Performs other related assigned duties.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent; related on the job experience or training.

CERTIFICATION OR LICENSE:

OSHA certification preferred.
