Senior Property Lawyer

About the opportunity

Jackson McDonald is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Property Lawyer with at least 4 years post-admission experience to join our Property team.

With one of the largest property law practices in Perth, our team have a breadth of industry knowledge and experience across the legal and regulatory frameworks. This exciting opportunity involves working collaboratively with our commercial property Partners Bianca McGoldrick, Lance Hilton-Barber and Fabrice Lincoln who are all leading practitioners in their field.

In this role you will work closely with clients advising on matters from all stages of the property transaction lifecycle, and will work particularly with our retirement village clients, so prior experience in a similar field would be beneficial.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

• A minimum 4-years post-admission experience.

• Strong and demonstrated knowledge of Western Australian property law and practice, including in the following areas:

1. due diligence;
2. preparation and negotiation of contracts to buy and sell tenanted or vacant, commercial, hospitality, industrial, retail and other types of property;
3. undertaking settlements, including on PEXA;
4. preparation of off-the-plan strata contracts;
5. advising on, preparing and reviewing commercial, industrial and retail leasing (both landlord and tenant perspectives);
6. land development, particularly subdivisions;
7. drafting easements and restrictive covenants;
8. retirement villages; and,
9. urban renewal projects.

• Communication skills including confidence in public speaking (both with clients and other lawyers).

• Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a collaborative team environment.

• Experience supporting clients impacted by property law legislative changes (desirable).

• Confidence to act in a client-facing role.

• Understanding and knowledge in the use of various IT systems.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• High legal standards, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.

• A client and solutions focus, with commitment to delivering an exceptional client experience.
