CML have an exciting opening for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team; at our Office in Sheffield you would be working with in the Reactive and Small Schemes Framework on the building’s projects.

Your Responsibilities:

As Assistant Quantity Surveyor at CML, you can expect to be working on projects ranging from £2k to £2.5m, with an average of £5k. the works are reactive and there is a fast pace with 20 to 30 projects per week being issued by our framework Partners for reactive maintenance and small scheme projects.

Main Function of Job:

  • Prepare estimates using a schedule of rates

  • Price variations / technical queries to contracted works

  • Liaise with delivery team regarding works executed

  • Analyse cost reports

  • Assist in producing final accounts

  • Negotiate and agree final accounts with Client

  • Compile cost-value reconciliations

  • Submit periodic valuations

  • Assessing sub-contractors claims

  • Attend site to take measurements

  • Attend progress meetings

  • Contribute to monthly commercial meetings

  • Submit periodic applications for payment

  • Assist with and help produce commercial reports for the Board of Directors

  • Assist with all change control processes

  • Work with supply chain for procurement of suppliers and S/C

  • Assist with tenders

  • Comply with and promote the company safety policy

Experience and Personal Qualities:

  • Similar experience working within a contracting environment (rail experience preferred but not essential)

  • Ability to work on own initiative and unsupervised

Person Specification:

  • HND / HNC or working towards - Essential

  • MS Office Skills - Essential

  • Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying - Desirable
