Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller role has been recently created due to significant growth within our business over the past 12 months. For this role, we are seeking someone who is able to work autonomously and assist management in driving the continued uplift in the maturity of the Finance function of our business.

The key profit centres of our business include our higher-volume Residential business and our Commercial business, which delivers medium and large-scale solar and battery projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the finance operations function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and month-end processes.

• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports

• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts

• Oversee BAS, Payroll Tax, and other taxation compliance

• Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors and advisors

• Strengthen financial controls, systems, and reporting frameworks

• Provide financial insights and recommendations to executive leadership

• Lead and support a small finance function, including our offshore resources in the Philippines

About you

• CA or CPA qualification (essential)

• Experience within the construction or project delivery sectors (essential), including an understanding of construction accounting principles and methodologies such as work-in-progress

• Minimum 2-3 years’ post-qualification experience in a senior accounting or financial management role

• Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and ATO requirements

• Experience with Xero (or similar), inventory management and workflow systems (essential)

• High attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving mindset

• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
