This technical trade position will have an impact on hospital operations by addressing carpentry issues quickly and to regulatory standards. Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

As part of the In-House Construction Team, this position:
Recommends materials and supplies needed for projects/work, requests supplies and maintains adequate levels of stock to eliminate lag time in projects.
Views the user group as the customer and collaborates with them to address their needs. Does all possible to minimize the disruption associated with the required work.
In the absence of the supervisor or manager, addresses any questions or issues identified by the inspection agencies as it relates to framing and carpentry related issues.
Reads and interprets blueprints to ascertain layout, location and specifications of work to be performed.
Accurately measures and marks dimensions to minimize waste and optimize efficiency.
Performs carpentry related tasks including but not limited to:
Replacing, repairing and/or installing windows and doors
Replacing ceiling tiles
Installing hardware items
Repairing, changing and maintaining door locks
Assembling items using glue, nails, and/or screws
Building or modifying partitions and/or walls with metal or wood studs
When it is determined to utilize outside vendors/contractors, provides assistance and direction to help the project stay on schedule and within plan and required specifications.
Detects and reports improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to supervisor.
Maintains tools and equipment in an orderly and safe manner to ensure easy access and extended product life.
Performs all required documentation accurately, legibly and timely.
Assists with snow removal and other projects as requested by supervisor
In-house Construction Team:
Assists the Construction Project Supervisor in calculating and proposing schedules and cost estimates for the project and makes recommendations on how to schedule multiple projects running concurrently.
Collaborates with Engineering leadership, user group, architect and engineers to review the carpentry portion of the project plans and uses trade expertise to make recommendations intended to improve the effectiveness of the project plan.
Participates in a team approach for the in-house construction team by performing cross functionally and assisting beyond typical trade boundaries but within licensure requirements. Works closely with other members of the project team to assist the project to stay on schedule and within plan and required specifications.
Runs errands to pick up or deliver materials.
Carries materials throughout worksite as needed.
Engineering Team:
Responds to pages to investigate and then resolve calls according to the program.
Establishes and maintains an effective preventative maintenance routine and schedule that complies with and maximizes operations and facility safety.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Licensure, Certification & Registration:
Valid driver’s license
Experience:
At least three (3) years of carpentry related trade work
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
For safety and quality reasons, must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors and fellow members of the hospital team.
Able to perform work with minimal supervision and/or direction.
Ability to read blueprints involving framing, electrical, HVAC and plumbing.
Pay Range:
$26.00 - $35.10The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
