The Role
The Site Lead Quality Engineer – Mechanical is responsible for leading and implementing all mechanical quality assurance and quality control activities at site for EPCM projects. The role ensures that mechanical construction, installation, and commissioning activities comply with project specifications, applicable codes and standards, and client quality requirements. The position acts as the main quality focal point between the EPCM contractor, client, vendors, and construction teams..

Key Responsibilities
Quality Management & Leadership
- Lead and manage all mechanical QA/QC activities at site for EPCM projects
- Implement the Project Quality Plan (PQP) and ensure compliance across all mechanical disciplines
- Act as the primary site interface for mechanical quality matters with client, EPCM, and contractors
- Supervise and mentor site mechanical QC engineers and inspectors
Mechanical QA/QC Activities
- Review and approve mechanical Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, and procedures
- Ensure inspections are conducted for piping, static equipment, rotating equipment, steel structures, tanks, and packages
- Monitor installation, alignment, welding, NDT, pressure testing, flushing, and pre-commissioning activities
- Verify compliance with drawings, specifications, codes, and approved documents
Documentation & Reporting
- Ensure proper control and review of mechanical quality records (MDRs, test reports, certificates)
- Review and close punch lists and non-conformance reports (NCRs)
- Prepare quality reports and dashboards for site and client review
- Support mechanical handover and turnover documentation
Non-Conformance & Continuous Improvement
- Identify quality issues, raise NCRs, and ensure effective root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Participate in audits, inspections, and quality meetings
- Promote continuous improvement and best practices in mechanical quality
Vendor & Contractor Management
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with quality requirements
- Support vendor inspections and FAT/SAT activities when required
- Ensure mechanical materials and equipment meet approved standards and certifications

Expected:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 15 years of experience in mechanical QA/QC on EPC or EPCM projects
- Proven experience in site execution for oil & gas, petrochemical, power, or industrial projects
- Strong knowledge of international codes and standards (ASME, API, ASTM, ISO, AWS)
- Certification such as CSWIP, AWS, or ISO Lead Auditor is an advantage
- Strong leadership and coordination skills
- Excellent understanding of EPCM project execution
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong communication skills with clients and multidisciplinary teams
- Proficient in quality documentation and reporting
