Contract
We are seeking a skilled DB2 LUW (Linux, UNIX, Windows) Database Administrator to design, maintain,
and optimize our DB2 databases to ensure high performance, availability, and security. The ideal
candidate will have hands-on experience managing DB2 LUW databases, implementing database
solutions, and working closely with application and infrastructure teams to support critical business
operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Database Administration:
o Install, configure, and upgrade DB2 LUW database servers and related tools.
o Perform daily administration, maintenance, and monitoring of DB2 databases to ensure
optimal performance.
o Ensure database performance, integrity, and availability are always maintained.
2. Performance Tuning and Optimization:
o Analyse and optimize SQL queries, indexes, and database configurations for maximum
efficiency.
o Continuously monitor database performance and resource utilization, ensuring optimal
operation.
o Identify performance bottlenecks and implement improvements for enhanced database
efficiency.
3. Backup and Recovery:
o Develop and manage comprehensive backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans to
safeguard critical data.
o Perform database restoration and recovery testing to ensure compliance with Recovery
Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs).
4. Security and Compliance:
o Implement and maintain database security best practices, including access control
measures and data encryption.
o Conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity and compliance with internal and external
regulations.
5. Database Design and Development:
o Design and optimize logical and physical database structures, including tablespaces,
schemas, and indexes.
o Collaborate in database modelling, partitioning, and developing strategies to enhance
database performance and scalability.
6. Automation and Scripting:
o Develop and implement scripts for automating database monitoring, maintenance tasks,
and alerts.
o Utilize scripting languages such as Shell, Perl, or Python to streamline database
management and improve efficiency.
7. Collaboration and Support:
o Work closely with application developers and system administrators to optimize database
integration.
o Provide expert-level database support for application deployments, system upgrades,
and troubleshooting.
8. Documentation:
o Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation of database environments,
configurations, processes, and standards
