Purpose of the Role
This is a newly created position following BGIS’s successful acquisition of a government services contract. The Facilities Manager – Owned Properties will manage and maintain a State-wide portfolio of owned buildings (including some leased), ensuring assets are safe, compliant, and optimised for long-term performance.
Reporting directly to senior operational leadership, you will work collaboratively with BGIS teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, customer-focused services, drive asset lifecycle planning, capital forecasting, and implement innovative maintenance strategies.
The ideal candidate is proactive, organised, and customer-focused, with strong technical knowledge and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations, planned and reactive maintenance, inspections, and site coordination
- Ensure compliance with statutory maintenance, essential safety measures and Victorian regulations
- Maintain asset registers, lifecycle plans, and condition data in BGIS Connect
- Oversee delivery of major maintenance, minor works, and capital projects with Asset Management teams
- Proactively identify asset risks, failures, and upgrade opportunities
- Supervise contractors and monitor vendor performance, ensuring safety and induction compliance
- Act as primary contact for building occupants and stakeholders, maintaining strong relationships
- Use digital tools and data insights to optimise maintenance strategies and workflow efficiencies
- Support budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and long-term capital planning
Education, Experience & Skills
Essential
- Qualifications in facilities management, building services, engineering, trade or related discipline
- Experience managing owned property portfolios with strong asset lifecycle and capital planning knowledge
- Knowledge of statutory maintenance, essential safety measures and Victorian regulatory frameworks
- Contractor management, site coordination, and delivery of maintenance programs
- High proficiency in FM technologies, digital systems, and data-driven insights
- Strong stakeholder engagement, customer service, reporting, planning and communication skills
- Passion for continuous improvement, adopting technology and optimising workflows
Desirable
- Experience in government or large-scale facilities environments
- Knowledge of sustainability initiatives or innovation in FM practices
Workplace Flexibility
Based onsite at Melbourne CBD or client sites. Full-time permanent with flexible start and finish times. Some ad hoc additional hours may be required.
