We are seeking a dedicated and culturally grounded Project Coordinator to support projects that deliver meaningful outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This role requires someone who can build trusted relationships, contribute to culturally informed decision-making, and collaborate across teams to strengthen programs and partnerships. Your knowledge, voice, and lived experience will help shape the design, delivery, and evaluation of initiatives that make a real difference for Aboriginal peoples.

 

The Project Coordinator is responsible for keeping our projects on track – from planning and documentation to engaging with communities and making sure things run smoothly. You’ll be juggling reports, coordinating resources, and working closely with stakeholders to deliver outcomes that meet timelines, budgets, and quality standards. You will play a key role in supporting the planning and implementation of the Parks for People program to ensure timely delivery of parks, playgrounds and urban squares near essential infrastructure and public transport.

About You

You are a proven leader who thrives in complex environments and brings a collaborative, relationship‑focused approach. You will demonstrate:

  • Stakeholder influence – strong skills in building trust, negotiating, and maintaining respectful partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including Aboriginal communities and government leaders.
  • Strategic capability – experience in shaping and delivering department‑wide strategies and contributing to Ministerial and Cabinet submissions.
  • Cultural authority – deep knowledge, respect, and understanding of Aboriginal cultural issues, with extensive experience in developing, implementing, and reviewing Aboriginal cultural strategies, policies, and procedures
  • Communication strength – exceptional ability to engage, listen, and convey complex ideas with clarity and impact.

 

Essential requirements

Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977) for Aboriginal people who meet the following criteria:

  • is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and 
  • identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and 
  • is accepted as such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community
