Position Title: Medical Simulation Operator (Program Manager)
FOPR: USAFSAM C-STARS Baltimore
FTE: 1 FTE
Location: University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, MD
Summary:
Provide technical and operational support for high-fidelity medical simulation training at C-STARS Baltimore. This includes simulator programming, scenario development, team performance analysis, and support for trauma and critical care training aligned with Air Force medical readiness objectives.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- National Registered Paramedic (NRP) or equivalent certification.
- Paramedic-level medical knowledge (RN level preferred).
- Basic Life Support – Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) certification.
- 5 years of clinical experience in military or civilian settings.
- 3+ years of experience programming human patient simulators (Laerdal, Gaumard, CAE).
- Experience in course development and education methodology.
- Knowledge of trauma clinical skills and AFMS Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs).
- Familiarity with Air Force and professional standards.
- Must be able to lift >50 lbs and operate in high-stress, low-light, and variable environments.
- Signed NDA required.
Highly Desired Qualifications:
- 1 year of military medical or deployment experience.
- Experience with LMS, A/V systems, moulage, hyper-realistic simulators, and task trainers.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain high-tech patient simulators and simulation environments.
- Develop and analyze simulation-based team training metrics.
- Support digital video recording, scenario design, and simulation execution.
- Use LMS to evaluate team and leadership performance.
- Collect and analyze pre/post-simulation performance data.
- Prepare and reset training environments and equipment.
- Conduct orientation and training on simulation systems.
- Develop validation metrics and simulation documentation.
- Collaborate with course directors, logistics, and IT to improve simulation delivery.
- Support simulation research and train-the-trainer activities.
