You as a Senior Accountant will:
- Serves as a key member of the accounting team
- Ensures accuracy and integrity of financial reporting across multiple entities
- Leverages strong technical expertise and attention to detail
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to provide insights that drive informed business decisions
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as required by management.
- Stay current with changes in accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry best practices.
Major Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple entities.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to ASPE and internal accounting policies and procedures.
- Audit Support: Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits, ensuring timely completion and proper documentation.
- Controls & Procedures: Maintain and enhance internal controls and accounting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Journal Entries & Working Papers: Review and prepare journal entries and supporting working papers for various entities.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Capital Assets: Maintain various capital asset schedules including large fleet of construction equipment. Book monthly entries for depreciation, new capitalizations, significant repairs, and dispositions.
- Inventory: Assist with the initial and ongoing valuation of inventory for OEM parts, construction consumables, aggregates, other.
Is this the right role for you?
- You have 3-5 years of experience required, preferably in the construction industry
- Degree/Diploma in a related field, as well as CPA or CPA Candidate (PEP)
- You possess strong knowledge of ASPE and GAAP, financial reporting and analysis, tax compliance (PST, HST, GST, multi-province), audit preparation and support, balance sheet reconciliation and internal controls and process improvement
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas)
- Experience with ERP systems/accounting software (e.g., Explorer)
- Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)
- You demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- You demonstrate the ability to work under pressure with attention to detail and can manage tight deadlines.
