The Undergraduate Recruiter for the Hattiesburg Campus reaches high school and transfer students to attend William Carey. With the help of the admissions staff, they usher interested students from their WCU interest to their first academic term registration. The Undergraduate Recruiter manages a travel schedule, helps implement campus visits and events, and maintains relationships with high school and college representatives and organizations within a designated territory.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Assist the university in implementing the Statement of Purpose.
- Assist the university in implementing the long-range institutional and financial plans.
- Specific duties include:
- Recruit students in a given territory as assigned by the Associate Vice-President of Recruitment.
- Represent WCU at in-person and virtual high school and community college events as well as university sponsored and community events.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with high school and community college guidance counselors.
- Engage with potential students and WCU applicants regularly (phone, email, mail, and text), and serve as a point of connection for students from the moment of interest until they enroll for classes.
- Host individual and group campus visits.
- Maintain a student correspondence file.
- Manage a travel schedule and maintain assigned vehicle.
- Assist in executing events sponsored by the Admissions and Recruiting Departments.
- Design and order promotional materials.
- Perform other tasks as deemed necessary for operation of the Recruiting Department.
- Participate in the annual evaluation of the effectiveness of the Recruiting Office
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Excellent customer service skills
- Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record to be covered under the university insurance
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from WCU
- Prior recruitment skills
- Prior office management
- Prior computer experience
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite
Physical Demands
- Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting, and to use standard office equipment, including a computer.
- Must have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
- Must have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Must have strength and agility to move files, event promotional items, and event setup essentials.
- Must be able to meet core responsibilities in an on-campus setting.
- Must be able to travel to recruiting events including student meetings
- Must be able to drive to various events
