Description:

The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department, managing compensation, rewards, leave management, and supporting leaders and employees with employee relations, recognition, and development. The HR Manager reports to the Senior Director of HR, manages a team of human resources professionals, and works with the Chief Human Resources Officer. The Human Resources Manager is a self-starter with strong initiative, a passion for process, and a growth mindset.  

 

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures timely and accurate responses to internal and external HR requests. Maintains and manages legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees. 

  • Manages HRIS system updates, ensuring information is accurate and updated in a timely manner. 

  • Manages the leave administration process for CAFB employees, including primary liaison with Payroll, managers, employees and vendors. 

  • Serves as the main liaison with payroll colleagues to resolve issues and ensure employees are paid accurately and in a timely manner. 

  • Assists with annual benefits open enrollment preparations, including plan offerings, and communications. 

  • Provides performance management guidance to supervisors (e.g. coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions). 

  • Works closely with supervisors and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention. 

  • Handles inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex matters as appropriate. 

  • Attends and participates in various employee discussions and prepares related correspondence and documentation. 

  • Assists employees with basic interpretation of policies and procedures (e.g., employee handbook). 

  • Identifies professional development resources to support team and individual growth. 

  • Manages and oversees a variety of projects, ensuring cross-functional representation where applicable, with a strong focus on collaboration, change management, and effective communication. 

  • Supports the performance management process, ensuring appropriate feedback and action items. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications


Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years of Human Resources experience.  

  • Minimum of two years of proven leadership experience. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field or equivalent work experience.  

  • HR Certification, such as SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP, preferred. 

  • Strong experience as a power user of HRIS system and related reporting, Paycom preferred. 

  • Thorough working knowledge of federal and state employment-related laws and regulations. 

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. 

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate if appropriate. 

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. 

  • Regular and punctual attendance is required. 

 

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.  

  • Required to speak and listen effectively, both in person and over the phone. 

  • Hybrid schedule available: Minimum three days in office, up to two remote days per week.

Compensation:

The anticipated base salary for this position is between $83,000 to $113,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable.
