JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant performs duties of high complexity, judgment, and scope which include analyzing accounts and reports for completeness and accuracy, preparing journal entries, monthly balance sheet reconciliations, troubleshooting problem areas, and making recommendations for improving procedures. The Senior Accountant should be able to work independently with a minimal amount of supervision. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day general accounting functions and provides guidance to Staff Accountant positions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (includes other duties as required):
- Serve as the point person for monthly reporting for certain foreign manufacturing locations.
- Assist with analysis of monthly financial variances vs. budget and prior year.
- Prepares assigned recurring and non-recurring journal entries throughout the month.
- Prepares various internal and external financial reports on a monthly basis.
- Assists in the preparation of schedules for annual external audits.
- Assists in the monthly consolidation and preparation of elimination entries.
- Performs timely account analysis and reconciliations.
- Evaluates accounting systems and procedures and makes recommendations to improve efficiency.
- Ensures proper and required documentation exists to support all journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Lead the month-end close process for the business unit and ensure timely and accurate financial statement preparation.
- Manage overall business unit inventory, obsolescence, manufacturing variances and intercompany transactions.
- Validation of standard costing inputs & general ERP management.
- Lead the business unit annual strategic plan and monitor performance metrics to meet company goals.
- Oversee the completion of all balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare the 15-week cash projection file for both the Mexico facility and U.S.-based operations.
- Primary point of contact for the commission & royalties process (includes NIL, College bookstore and several other programs).
- Oversee weekly sales reports and monthly commission reports.
- Axapta ERP power user responsible for system testing, new process development and accounting workstreams that meet GAAP.
- Maintains corporate financial statement templates and reporting structure.
- Completes ad hoc projects as assigned.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
- Experience with Infor/M3, Axapta and/or SQL a plus.
- Strong PC Skills; Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. (i.e. ability to perform pivot tables, lookups, write formulas, etc.).
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Must be able to handle and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, preferred.
- Attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
- Self-motivated team player.
- Professional, high-integrity, reliable, organized, driven, and results-oriented.
- Excellent planning skills: Ability to accurately scope out length and difficulty of tasks and projects; sets objectives, develops schedules, and anticipates and adjusts for problems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Hybrid Schedule is in place but is subject to change at any time. At present, this position works from home on Mondays and Fridays and in office Tuesdays through Thursdays each week.
WORK HOURS:
- Full-Time: Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM
