We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that’s energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently – we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it and mend it.

About your team:

At Centrica Energy, our mission is to move it.

We’re energy movers by nature. We’re a global renewable energy trading company which helps move energy from source to use – powering businesses, homes, and societies as they transition to a new sustainable energy future. If the idea of working to create a sustainable energy future also moves you, we may very well be the right place for you.

Join an international team of Energy Movers By Nature and put your quantitative expertise to work in the wholesale energy markets. This Quantitative Risk Analyst role sits in a high-impact environment where valuation and risk models inform decisions across power, gas, LNG, and energy attributes trading. You’ll collaborate closely with front office and risk stakeholders, validate and build cutting‑edge models, and turn complex analysis into clear, actionable insights.

Based in Aalborg—one of the key trading hubs—you’ll help elevate the Transaction & Quantitative Risk (TQR) function while contributing to a diverse community of colleagues from 50+ nationalities across 8 global offices.

About the Role

As a Quantitative Risk Analyst, you’ll be part of the TQR team, which oversees both Model Validation and Quantitative Model Development for the wider Risk function. The role is based in Aalborg (Denmark), with occasional business travel to other offices (e.g., London).

In this role, you will:

  • Advise on and contribute to ongoing model development for valuation and risk measurement, reviewing and validating Front Office models for a sophisticated and constantly evolving product set.

  • Design, build, and implement risk models (e.g., Market, Credit, and Liquidity Risk) including Value at Risk, Profit at Risk, PFE, CVA/DVA, and Variation Margin at Risk—to continually improve risk modelling capabilities and deliver high‑value analysis to the business.

  • Partner effectively with Quantitative Analysts, Traders, and Originators to align modelling with commercial objectives.

  • Communicate complex analytical results clearly—including to senior management—so they drive better decisions.

  • Stay current on industry best practice and emerging trends in quantitative finance and risk modelling.

About You

You have a strong quantitative foundation and enjoy turning complex challenges into practical solutions. You can explain technical concepts clearly, work collaboratively across trading, risk, and finance, and thrive in a fast-paced commercial environment. Your focus is on building models and tools that help the business make better decisions.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a highly quantitative subject (Mathematics, Quantitative Finance, Economics, Engineering, Sciences, or similar).

  • Strong analytical skills with an understanding of quantitative finance principles and exposure to financial modelling.

  • High attention to detail in numerical analysis and written communication.

  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and influence outcomes through collaboration.

  • Experience or strong interest in programming for modelling (e.g., Python or similar) and contributing to model development.

  • Willingness to learn how to review and validate complex models and apply a practical, business-focused approach to valuation and risk management.

  • Ability to operate under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a trading-related risk environment.

  • Clear communication skills to explain complex issues to diverse stakeholders, including front office quants, traders, originators, asset developers, finance, and risk teams.

  • Interest in constructively challenging modelling approaches and transactions while maintaining strong professional relationships.

  • Curiosity about energy commodity markets and their role in commercial decision-making.

You’ll thrive here if you enjoy:

  • Owning complex modelling problems end‑to‑end—from design to production.

  • Working in a fast‑moving, commercially driven trading environment.

  • Translating quantitative detail into business‑ready insights.

  • Uplifting team capability and supporting a strong risk culture.
